Did the Blue Jays make a pact with the devil when we won those back to back World Series'?

Also Ramon Santiago broke his collarbone. He was only on a minor-league deal (but had a decent shot at claiming the 4th infielder spot IMO). Because... Blue Jays (can someone please throw a virgin into the volcano already?).

On the other side, perhaps tempting fate by mentioning this, but I've seen/read a lot of mentions of Drew Hutchison as a potential Cy Young sleeper. Really interested to see how he does this year.

Knowing the Blue Jays injury woes, can you imagine the frustration/panic if the Jays HAD got Darvish?

"Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish had Tommy John surgery Tuesday morning in Florida and all went well."

Really bad start to the year for pitchers. I don't remember so many catastrophic injuries to starters in other years but that might be recency bias.

Interesting too that pitch count limits have become a hard rule and it seems like this really has had no effect on limiting injuries amongst pitchers.*

*This is of course based on no research on my part and based merely on my observation.

Yeah, I'm with you there but readily acknowledge that my belief isn't based off of anything other than anecdote.

Glad to hear that Sanchez is more-or-less a lock for the rotation now, and it seems like the same is true for Norris as well. Been some good news out of Dunedin for the Jays lately.

Izturis' injury is going to mean Travis or Goins begin the year in Toronto (I'd imagine). Hope it's Travis ... he's really been impressive.

Agreed - Travis so far this spring has shown that he can handle the bat, and the glove has looked better than most of us thought it would. Little bit of pop this afternoon, shooting a double to the gap. There is more than enough thump in this lineup (when healthy), that gap to gap hitters are cherries on the top!
On another note - Osuna/Castro looked really good today... Osuna's change up got a lot of swing and misses, and Castro albeit a power pitcher shows nice touch with his off speed stuff too. I can see the Betances comparisons, albeit early.

Impressive pitching performances from the Jays in today's win over the Rays. Osuna looked great in the start and Castro was dominant again.

EDIT: Looks like we posted at the same time. Really enjoyed today's game!

Stephen Brunt was saying on Friday morning that he wouldn't be surprised if Castro was the closer by May 1st. Guys aren't touching him yet.

I do hope what Brunt is saying becomes true - as I would prefer Cecil is a late inning/situation pitcher instead of the closer. Last year, Cecil was nails coming into innings and getting the Jays out of jams.

Yeah... of course if the reason Blunt was saying that Castro might be closer by May 1 (namely that he ends up being really really good) ends up coming true you would want the same for Castro.

Really it's a special kind of idiocy that tell people that it's somehow a good idea to basically use your relievers in reverse order of performance level.

And hopefully a major renovation to the facility as whole to modernize it.

Maybe by then, Blue Jays might have a legit shot at making the playoffs! (Haha )

Glad to see another step taken towards grass at Rogers Centre. The writing was on the wall for the Argos anyway.

Brendan Kennedy (writes about the Jays for the Star) is saying that Castro is going to pitch in back-to-back games on Thursday and Friday, with Osuna starting again on Saturday. It's been fun watching those two step up here in Spring Training, along with how well Devon Travis has been playing. So easy to be optimistic this time of year!

Does anybody here subscribe to MLB.tv? Just curious how the service is and if it is similar to NHL GameCenter?

Much much better than Gamecenter. Just streams way better, more options and overall more reliable and better quality.
