Draisaitl's 45 points in 29 games (1.55ppg) and Sam Reinhart's 59 points in 44 games (1.34ppg) are looking very, very modest right now.

Reinhart:

2012/13: 1.18 PPG
2013/14: 1.75 PPG
2014/15: 1.34 PPG

Bennett:

2012/13: 0.67 PPG
2013/14: 1.60 PPG
2014/15: 2.33 PPG (only 9 games)

I have felt for a while that Reinhart's progression had slowed. Bennett, on the other hand...

Treiliving told Sam to go down and carry his team into the playoffs. The Fronts are 8-1 in their last 9 games.

I am in Kingston for the weekend and was fortunate to catch the game last night. Here are some observations.

- Fronts were playing the third ranked team in conference. With Kingston ranked sixth, good chance this could be a first round playoff matchup.
- North Bay was totally dominated and only had six total shots mid way through the second. 6-0 final with Bennett's line barely playing in third.
- Bennett played with Crouse and Watson all night. Line was dominant.
- all three of Bennett's goals were rebounds but two were on very skilled spin moves.
- Bennett's assist in the third period was a slick pass from behind the net.
- Sam had a big open ice hit in the middle of the second period and doesn't shy away from getting hit. He was hit hard a couple times but also made a really nice move to avoid a hit.
- one thing that is most noticeable for me is his demeanor. He is so relaxed and nonchalant. He doesn't show much emotion but is still very engaged in game. It's hard to say that a player who scored a hat trick appeared to not be trying but it really felt that way. He just seems so composed and comfortable on ice. Reminds me of Monahan.
- if there was negative it was on the draws. Don't know the stats but I would guess he was below 50 percent.

Very happy that to see Bennett for the first time live. Even more excited to see him in Calgary next year.

Me too, except there was trepidation with Johnny because of his size and the fact that while what he did in college was unprecedented in this Era, there were no comparable. Add in the fact that the Flames simply had not had any youth come in and dominate, it made many second guess if he'd perform.

There's zero doubt with Bennett because we've seen Johnny have success with the Flames, there's plenty of comparables coming from the OHL and he has no size issues

Yeah I have the little trepidation with Poirier but still think he's going to be awesome too.. Wish he'd get more of a shot.

Nope. They are all getting the day off.

I would imagine Oshawa is livid

They clinched their spot. Bulls can't catch them and the only way to pass the IceDogs is to win out and Niagara to lose every game. Resting your top players on the third game of a weekend on a meaningless game for them only makes sense.

Dissapointing, but it makes sense. Why risk injury letting them match up against Big rig smith *Nod*

This is their third game in three days. And they are locked into 6th overall anyway.

They destroyed North Bay yesterday, who they will probably meet in the first round.

If the get past NB, they would meet Oshawa in the 2nd round. And apparently these teams hate each other. I didn't quite catch what the announcer said but I believe he said that Oshawa is 27-3-1-1 at home and that 2 of the losses and one of the loser points came at the hands of Kingston.

With Kingston playing well lately, Oshawa was really looking forward to this game. So pulling those guys out of the lineup a) gives them a rest and not have to play 3 days in a row, and b) blows Oshawa's collective minds.

It's already 2-0 Oshawa, about 7 minutes in.
