I hope this shuts down the talk of the Flames being "lucky" this year.

Jeez, do I ever feel for Giordano. That likely is going to impact him winning the Norris this year. Dude played amazing for the Flames this year. Terrible to see him injured on a seemingly innocent play of trying to rim the puck around the boards.

I'd argue we did tank at the end of the season two years ago. Let's be honest, when you give 15+ minutes to Carter Bancks, Akim Aliu, Mark Cundari and Ben Street, you're more than okay with losing the game.

Like half of the team is prospects... ?_?

I feel like whining today.

They're just ####ing with us. If we barely miss the playoffs, we still get #1 with the 0.8% chance or whatever it is.

Personally, I would have loved to see what Bollig, Reinhart, Ramo, Raymond, Stajan would have brought. If the Flames wanted to send a positive message to their players then they should have acquired players then. I think this deadline was a dud for them and they took the easy way out by not doing anything. The only move made was when they were forced to by Baertschi. The lack of moves to me shows they are NOT going for it.

Because this isn't a video game.

Because the Flames are still in a playoff spot

Because Treliving giving up and selling sends the wrong message to the coaches and the locker room

Flames will still drive for the playoffs. Rally for the captain.

San Jose is done, just have to beat out one additional team to make it.

Pfft, Gio was just a product of Brodie anyway. Throw Schlemmy in there and he won't skip a beat.

...who am I kidding, this day has been awful

I have to disagree. there is nothing saying we couldnt get young more established players for a package deal of Sven, Glencross, +. Look at LA they sent away Simmonds, Schenn and Picks a few years back and they have been better for it ever since. Id prefer young prospects and young stars to picks.

You deal the ones that aren't a fit (Schenn's and Sven's) and keep the guys that show promise (Tofolli's and Gaudreau's). Supplment with trades for prospects and younger NHL'ers to keep all your best players primes near the same window imo.

Last I read he was sent down again, and just couldn't make it out of Philly because of weather. But I would love to be proven wrong

A. How do you know they didn't explore the market for these players
B. I suspect the value for them was next to nothing.

What a tough season. No playoffs, no McDavid/Eichel/Provorov, Mason Raymond and Deryk Engelland over Sven Baertschi and Tyler Wotherspoon. No Sam Bennett. *sigh* now Ramo is gonna finish the season off on a Vezina tare and we're stuck with Hiller, I bet.

Time to see if TJ Brodie is really as good as I think he is.
