I like Sutter (as a coach) but it's bad for the Flames and, worse, makes John Shannon look smart.

Sekera is overrated IMO, will help the Kings because they need the d help but a first is a lot to pay.

Somebody better get Rerun some of that stuff Lombardi is smoking, cause he made it very clear, that 1st round picks do not get traded for pending UFAs.

Did they move the trade deadline and no one told me?
Anyway, this is sort of as expected price-wise, but more than I'd want to pay for the player. But the Kings are always a threat, and they're approaching dynasty territory if they win this year, so what the hell. Go for it.

They'll probably be fine though. I doubt Voynov plays another NHL game.

The NHL changed the rules up a bit to allow them to get cap relief in the first place. Wouldn't be surprised if they did something to help them out again.

I wonder if they make this trade if they went 4-4 in the last 8 instead of 8-0?
Thinking they will steamroll into the playoffs and make a deep run.

This will get interesting if Voynov comes back.

I think this trade is crazy, TBQH, unless there's a lot more to it. That LA pick could end up being 14th-18th overall.

probably some long shot prospect to make the contract numbers work. In either case, steep price ... didn't think Sekera would return a 1st after Toronto had to add Santorelli to get a 1st for Franson. Sucks to see LA load up.

Interested to see which year this 1st lands in.
The race just got tougher for the Flames.

I'm resigning to the fact that the Kings are just getting into their 5th gear. Getting on a roll strong to end the season. Which means to me, their 1st is going to likely be around the 20-26 mark.

Good trade for the Canes. Kings have to go deep into the playoffs or this isn't good for a team that is getting on the old side.

we just need to remember that we are rebuilding, yes a bubble team right now, but REBUILDING! I have to keep reminding myself that this isn't 3 years ago.

Let's be honest, if the Kings get on a roll, there's a good chance that pick is 30th overall.

John Hoven is reporting that the prospect is believed to be a defenceman that he considers a Kings' top 10 prospect.
