The past couple days I have had that feeling they are the likey destination. We have Glencross and cap space which are 2 assets the Hawks would like to acquire. They have picks, prospects, and roster players that can certainly help the flames

That makes sense.
Given that management has been going pretty hard on the handedness of the stick (Sharp is a LW/RW RH shooter), I wouldn't be surprised if we did acquire Sharp. His contract is meh, but he's still a serviceable player (unlike M. Richards). A little confused on us going for Raanta, but I guess that's just another goaltender we can take a gamble on. Perhaps Ramo is being sent to Chicago?

I have a feeling Glencross could be one of the last trades on deadline day. If what media is reporting is true, there are a few teams who are interested. This is not a case of nobody being interested and seeing if we can get anything at all.
Burke and Treliving most likely wait it out unless exactly what the want is presented to them. Come the final house of the trade deadline, at least 1 or 2 of the teams on Glennys list will be desperate after missing out on the other available players.
Trading him now makes little to no sense when you know the demand will increase as times passes.

I could see Chicago as well, but if that is the case, it will be right at the deadline, given their cap situation. This assumes we aren't getting a Sharp back, which I think is a fairly safe assumption, given, you know, they are trying to get better for a cup run.
Edit: Even a guy like Versteeg is unlikely to come back, as it sounds like he is playing reasonably well.

Sharp moving in the summer makes a lot more sense for Chicago. If they want to get Sekera as well though they may need to shed cap immediately

Unless the teams who are interested (and on the list) fill their needs which would leave us twisting in the wind. I'd prefer they get a deal done sooner than later if possible.

Last note on the Cammaleri no trade last year.
Cammaleri was third choice for most teams as Kesler and Vanek were similar cap hit. Vanek didn't get dealt right until the end because many were waiting on Kesler first. There were likely more deals to be had for Cammaleri, but there simply was no time left after Vanek finally went and Kesler got pulled. That meant he would've had to trade to someone that wasn't in on either of those players

I remember the flames being really high on Ritchie. I wonfer if their is anything we could do to sweeten the pot and get Ritchie out of Anaheim. Would GlenX plus Granlund plus a 2nd still be too little? We have depth at center with Monahan/Bennett/Backlund for the future. Would love a prospect like Ritchie. I suppose it makes sense to try something similar for Theodore also. We could really use some more D prospects.

Would probably have to throw in jankowski or something similar. Still not sure if Anaheim is that interested in moving Ritchie.

Which I would still do from a flames perspective. Perhaps this kind of deal is more likely to pry out Theodore form Anaheim. Which I still think makes sense for the flames.

Jankowski and what? Jankowski and Glencross? You do that deal before Anaheim could change their mind.

The team has said they aren't listening to offers for those guys. Do you think adding Janko changes that at all?
I sure don't.
Teams rarely trade prospects they are high on. If ever.

Ritchie is having a crap year, but Anaheim won't trade a recently drafted 10th overall for less than overpayment.

True. I imagine with the speculation of GlenX wanting to go to Anaheim Treliving already ventured in that direction and probably realized the price was too high on those two guys. Definetly not opposed to the idea of us adding some valuable prospects to the Glencross deal to try and get a real good blue chip prospect from any team. Hopefully a deal like that is out there.

Would anybody really care if Glencross was dealt to any of our divisional rivals?
I know I wouldn't.

I have a notion in my mind that Antti Raanta becomes a Flame soon.

I agree with you 100% but I wouldn't be trading him to say Winnipeg, SJ, LA, etc. teams that are fighting for playoff spots for next to nothing. Any trades with those teams, we better get a good prospect and a draft pick or something that helps us now, maybe on the back end.
I think it is acceptable to make a trade and possibly get less in return to a team in the east as a last resort if we can't get a good deal for him.
I really don't want to lose out any any assets for this guy.
