If guys don't deserve two-way NHL deals than you can sign guys to AHL deals.

Hanowski has had a vary strong year, and Jorris is a fine example of why you don't just give up on prospects who are continuously improving too soon.

Ramage It is safe to say he is not an NHL prospect at this point. A guy who does a full 4 years of college has a short window to show he can be a pro, and 2 season, 1 ahl goal, an assignment to the ECHL as a 23 year old. he is a long way from what we thought he could be.

Hopefully they save the contract spots (50 max) for players that have more talent/potential. You know, players who actually have a chance at playing in the NHL.

Oh woah, I totally didn't consider Ortio's contract at all. Thought we'd still be having the battle we're having now.

I'll give you Ramage, but I think Hanowski is done. Logjam, and I just don't see him bringing anything we don't have in spades well above him.

The big difference between Jooris and Hanowski is skating ability. Hanowski just doesn't posses NHL level skating IMO where as skating is a strength for Jooris. Hanowski just doesn't have it and he never will. I'd be fine with him on an AHL deal though, he is a solid depth player at that level.

I don't think Hanowski or Ramage have much of a chance to become regular NHLers, but both players have only being playing pro for two years. I see them both getting qualified.

Poirier-CGY callup well deserved. He's looked excellent this season.
Guy who thought Sam Bennett should have been 1st overall and thought the Flames got the best player in the draft....

He learned a lot in that year!

Nah, seriously. Pronman's not bad. Don't really care if he thought Poirier was a 3rd round guy, he's fairly well informed and sticks by his guns. Don't know why anyone would take issue with it.

It's the guys who won't change their opinion no matter what you have to question. And maybe that's what sureLoss was just pointing out a guy who didn't think much of him, is praising him.

Yeah just pointing out that he once ranked Poirier very low (relatively).

I agree. Last year after seeing Josh Jooris played in Calgary and Abbotsford, I didn't think he was good enough to play in the NHL ever. I guess he proved me and lot of people wrong. Some players takes time to develop, some just needed confidence and once he gets that confidence he plays so much better.

I also wouldn't rule out Ramage out. Maybe it is just taking Ramage more years to develop. Giordano looks like he was going to be a career #5-7 D in the NHL or even an AHLer. He too proved that if you work hard enough and given a chance he'll excel. If someone tells me that he predicted Giordano to be in #1 D pairing a few years ago, I would say they are lying. The guy was undrafted and even went to KHL.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Hudler: Scoring line, soaks up top d matchups
Bouma - Backlund - Jones: Shutdown line with offensive upside
Glencross - Jooris - Raymond: Defensive deployment workhorses
Ferland - Granlund - Poirier: AHL line that gets easy starts/minutes that packs massive scoring potential and can be defensively responsible

Hey guys,
long time lurker, first time poster here:

Just wanted to say how proud I am of the flames so far this year, no one (well except maybe Aaron Ward) expected the flames in the position they're in at this point in the season.
Looking at the lineup listed above it makes me even more proud because when I see our line-up I see a good 2nd line (JH-SM-JH) and 3-3rd lines, with potential to be top line players. We may not have a lot of talent, but we definitely have the work ethic and drive that makes teams successful!
I know it's been mentioned many times already but I love the call-ups and can't wait for them to start contributing towards the Flames future!

Cheers,
Sammy

Just had a little guy a couple of weeks ago. It's been the best couple of weeks of my life for sure, and I've had some good ones . Enjoy!

Fingers crossed for the Stajans! Any word yet? Quirky scouring the thread I haven't seen any news.

Really looking forward to seeing what Poirier is made of.

And best wishes to the Stajans! Hopefully they have some great news soon.

I think you are going to be disappointed. The Flames aren't going to give up on guys who have only been pros for two seasons.

Roger Millions @RogMillions
First thing you notice about Emile Poirier is he has beefed up a little, as in muscle. Not a bad sign. #Flames
