Seems like an over reaction to sit Johnny right now. He's still producing. Plus, every player... And I mean EVERY player... Goes through slumps during the season. That includes guys likes Crosby, Ovechkin, malkin, Kane, giroux, etc. It happens to all of them. But because Johnny is a rookie, it automatically means he doesn't have the stamina to handle an 82 game season?

He's near Ppg lately, but that's a lot to do with the line he is on.

Not sure I would sit him, yet. But maybe shuffle him to another line.

He's having a fantastic season but where are people getting PPG from? He's on pace for 63 points, there hasn't been a PPG rookie since Malkin?

And?

All they're saying is he's putting up points, lately. That caveat changes everything and isn't suggesting it means through the entire season. I haven't the foggiest why you could have a problem with it, even after it was quickly explained.

Except that - in addition to lately (which should have gone without saying if you're not being obtuse) - Gaudreau has largely scored at that pace after the first five games of the season.

Default With the 104th overall pick, the Flames select LW John Gaudreau

Who's efforts have also been praised. Your point?

Edit- I see others have addressed this well enough.

Odd username choice to stifle our enthusiasm

Watching the NBC afternoon game today and they went out of their way to hype Flyers vs Johnny Hockey this week.
He's a superstar.

He's scoring at a respectable pace, creating chances on the PP and usually holding his own out there. The thing is... I don't think he's found his groove yet. You can see that some of his moves aren't 'clicking' and he hasn't quite adjusted 100% to the NHL – a few too many unnecessary giveaways mainly. He has so much room for improvement, yet he's already contributing. He is going to be SCARY good.

Johnny is not getting the on ice protection that is needed for a player of his physical stature and importance to the team.
It is becoming far to frequent how teams are taking runs at him without consequence.
Treliving and Hartley must address this with the team and even bringing back a guy like Wolf against the bigger teams would make a measure of difference.

The biggest problem I'm seeing is guys dumping the puck into the the corners, with Gaudreau being expected to always retrieve it, which he probably has like a 30% success rate doing if followed in by a defender. Positionally, he often seems to be where you would expect a big body.

Maybe he needs to float in the zone more *shrug*

Johnny wins a lot more puck battles than he has any right to. He has a really good stick that way.

I just think that the opposition has seen a lot more video on him than his first run through the league. Even with that, he's played pretty well outside a couple games. It's just a learning process.

Agree that Johnny is playing fine; not as good as he will play, but he's a rookie, he's playing fine.
Also agree that the Flames need to get bigger. Like the make-up of the team, but some muscle out there can only help.

I think he could be tiring. To me a lot of his passes are just in the general area and not on the stick. Of course I see this happening with the rest of the team also.

There's some of that but I think they are getting deflected ore often.

I think that is just a factor of teams keying on him and giving him less time and space. I don't see any fatigue in his game at all.

He is probably a bit black and blue though from the rough stuff in Anaheim.

Will Johnny ever get the Patty Kane swagger? Because that would be awesome. Or is it just not in his personality?
