They're probably not even televised in Kingston.

Their game last Sunday was on Sportsnet. None of their future games are scheduled to be televised.

He earned a roster spot in training camp. So why send him back to Kingston? I think you put him in the AHL for a couple games, see how that goes, then make a decision.

Did he earn a roster spot?

He lasted a long time but he was injured before the finals cuts. We really can't say for sure if he did. And even if he made the team out of training camp, an injury and recovery of that length chances everything.

And Finger Cookin, think all Kingston games are shown locally.

I thought Hartley (or was it Treliving?) came directly out and said he earned a spot on the team out of camp. This comment was after they'd decided on surgery. I've seen this posted multiple times but haven't seen a source....I think it was on a radio interview or something?

Are they going to move Glencross so they can clear up a spot for Bennett on the roster on the wing??

Why rush him though? The guy must have lost some muscle and missed a bunch of ice time. I think the best thing is to send him to Kingston, let him play against kids his age and continue to get stronger and that team chemistry back. Kingston is also on the outside looking in if I am reading the standings right but still have a chance to make the dance, that is a great scenario to throw him into to see if he can help that team get in. I just think it would be better to be patient with him, then he has a whole summer to put on muscle and endurance. I think he trains with Roberts in the off season doesn't he? Then you re-evaluate next training camp.

Things are different IMO now that the Flames are in a playoff position. If he makes the team better right now, you add him.

Did he really though? Or was he just injured/opt for surgery before he was officially cut?

I know that Hartley said he would have made the team if healthy, but you also have to take comments like that with a grain of salt. It's a common motivation technique to pump a guy's tires when he is likely feeling like crap having to sit out almost the whole season.

At any rate, he has been with the team and practicing for a while now. If he goes straight back to junior after being cleared, I think it is fair to say he had an opportunity.

I think that you have to give him a shot, if he can add something, it's lik making a trade without losing any assets. Can be a huge boost for the stretch run. I think they have to at least give him a fe wgames in the AHL on a conditioning stint and decide from there. To just blindly throw him back to the OHL doesn't make any sense.

I asked in the other Sam Bennett thread for someone to show me a single link that proved that he made the club. Not a single person could show any definitive proof other then a couple sites speculating and someone ''remembering they heard it in an interview''. Again, if someone can provide solid evidence with a direct quote from Hartley or Treliving where they say beyond a shadow of a doubt that Sam ever made the final cut then by all means I'll believe it. Until then, people need to stop saying he made the team as a reason he should stay. Nothing like that was said.

What kind of message does this convey if we play Bennett in the NHL over quite a few Adirondack players that deserve to be playing before Sam?

I remember the interview. This team has never used the term "final cut". I think it was Treliving and it was more along the lines of Sam was going to be in the opening night roster for the purpose of the 9 games for futher evaluation.

The 9 games to start the season out of camp is a lot different than the kid being dropped into a playoff push. It could be argued that he's fresh right now and he could have an advantage of being 100% compared to many players banged up from the first 58 games. Or on the other hand many of the players are in war mode and it's going to be a rough remaining 24 games. Tough call, but I bet Treliving goes conservitave and he goes straight to Kingston.

IIRC, he didn't actually say that, I believe (if we are going by the same interview) that he said Sam had played well enough he could have made the NHL roster but he got injured (so therefore, the coaching staff et al) will keep on evaluating Sam and explore all the options for what is the best for his development.

(Remember, Treliving never really fully commits to saying anything.)

The only definitive thing RE bringing in a 18 year old to make the roster is, he believes a prospect can never be overseasoned (junior/AHL) and would rather a player stay too long in a development league then go into the NHL too early. He had once commented that while he really liked Monahan as a prospect and even though Monahan had a great rookie season, he would have likely (again, Treliving never fully commits) sent Monahan back to junior.

However.... wouldn't surprise me to see him make use of the 2 week conditioning stint before sending him down.
