Pat Steinberg @Fan960Steinberg
Treliving says Glencross has not demanded a trade, but discussions have been had about his future. #Flames

Treliving also suggested that Glencross is expected to play tomorrow. So not just conflicting reports about requesting a trade but conflicting reports about his immediate future in the lineup.

If it's a rage quit "trade me right frickin' now" scenario, then yest. But if the player just isn't happy with how things are going but not a distraction for the team, then use him as an asset to help your team in the meantime. Sitting a player until he is traded reeks of "I need to get rid of this guy, right frickin' now! I'll take anything for him!."

This board is tame compared to those ones you mentioned. People here are not spewing hate and garbage. I really like Glencross, but as some have mentioned time has run it's course and others have stepped up taking his minutes. His injuries certainly didn't help but both Backlund and Stajan had no problems stepping in and fulling the roles they were given. I imagine if he had come back played hard he would have been right back on the top line..

People. Sometimes there comes a time when it is better for both parties involved to just go their separate ways. A couple of tweets don't tell the whole story, and if you have learned anything from the Calgary Flames organization, it is that they like to keep things under wraps. I say everyone needs to grow up and quit calling Glencross a whiner because he may or may not have asked for a trade. Most of the people on this website have been calling for him to be traded for the past two years, and then the moment its not on your terms it's Glencross' fault for being selfish? Get over it.

So it is likely that the writing is on the wall and Glencross offered to increase the amount of teams he'll go to in order for Treliving to get the trade done, and hopefully sooner than later. He doesn't want to go through the next 10 days wondering what is up, putting his pregnant wife through the stress of uncertainty during this time.

tend to believe the boomer tweet in this case, he seems to have a personal friendship with glenny. treliving's comments kinda sound like management speak to me.

To my mind, a guy in a contract year, even if jonesing heavy for a trade, will still want to keep playing from now until the deadline. The Flames in turn will also want to keep him in the lineup unless something is imminent (the showcase factor).

I think he'll be playing the next couple of games at least.

EDIT: Given the overachievement of the Flames, I thought Treliving had a perfect get out of jail free card this year for doing absolutely nothing. Now it seems he may have to.

If he has expanded his list that's all we can really ask of him. Hopefully something gets done quickly so this doesn't become a distraction. Plus we need a new shiny toy.

I finally got a chance to hear the interview as I drove home from work, and in context, I think it really does sound like Glencross wanted to be a part of this team's future, but that the organization is moving on. I think that is why he hedged when asked if he wanted to stay in Calgary. Saying "yes" is the easy answer, but perhaps hard to say when the team has already said "no", and accentuated the point by asking for a list of teams he would go to. The biggest complaint I might make about Glencross' attitude in that interview is a level of denial about his own abilities at this stage of his career. The Flames know he is declining, so are making way for up and comers, but Glencross still thinks he can be what he was a few years ago.

Still hoping we get a 1st round pick for Glencross.

Maybe a 1st rounder for Glencross + a prospect (example: Hanowski, Agostino, Reinhart)?

Wow.

There are a lot of assumptions being made here.
And a lot of misinformation as a result.

Flames would be wise to settle up on this sooner than later.

I'm thinking Glencross embracing this is a good thing. Would be worse had he said "I have no intention of waving NTC."

I also think it wouldn't be so bad if they couldn't put together a deal for more than a 3rd or 4th rounder and therefore didn't move him.

This team does have some chemistry and he is really good for veteran presence and depth. Losing him to free-agency instead of a mediocre pick wouldn't be so bad if we benefited from him during the stretch or possibly playoffs.

After today's events you think there's still a chance he will not be traded?

Jim Matheson @NHLbyMatty
Habs could use Jeff Petry as rental but I am thinking Calg winger Curtis Glencross would be ideal there. Bigger forward
