What GM is really considering taking on this guy? I understand he can be a game changer but the negatives he brings to the locker room cant be overlooked. IMO you would have to be in a really difficult situation with injuries or something of that nature to even consider adding him.

Probably 29 other teams' GM's. There is no denying if Kane is on he's one the top dynamic FW's in the league. If you're the GM of a team with a rock solid leadership core I think you go get him. Kane is a pup in need of proper training, and there are simply more than a few organizations that can reel his attitude in.

If Kane focused solely on being a good professional on and off the ice, any team that gets him can strike paydirt.

When I look at the kids that got bullied growing up, it ends up becoming a vicious circle. And I think that's what Matt's saying about this situation. He certainly isn't painting Kane as a saint or an innocent victim, just suggesting that contrary to jock logic, throwing his clothes in the shower did not turn out to be a smart move. Go figure.

A smart management/leadership group would not have let things get to this point as the Jets are spiraling out of a playoff spot that seemed fairly secure just two weeks ago.
I respect your opinion on this, but i don't think this as simple as a guy being caught up in a vicious circle of being the butt of jokes or mistreatment. I believe this is a guy who is constantly spitting in the face of his teammates and coaches, and needs to get dealt with once in a while. He's lucky Big Buff didn't just kick his ass. This is most likely about a lot more than the incident we are talking about.

These are the important questions.
NM, joke already made...

I don't think any GM would be short-sighted enough to take on guys like Richards and Carter. They're self-centered cancers in the locker room and will never win a Cup.

Oh wait . . . we're talking about Kane???

Oh, you mean those point per game players at the same age Kane is? No, we're talking about an almost 24 year old who's only broke 20 goals once.

Your comparison is No Good

The obvious solution here is to move the team out of Winnipeg, this kind of stuff wouldn't happen in Seattle. A trade to the flames would be my plan B.

Didn't know partying caused cancer? Kane is an arsehole, Richards and Carter were always good teammates.

Yeah, when his team mates threw his track suit in the shower he happened to be still inside of it. Cranked his shoulder on the soap holder, too.

Clear cut case of bullying, if you ask me...

I can see a team in need of changes but not a playoff team, he would be a project with upside for a strong willed GM/coach.

Some of the offers for him by fans are hilarious though, you can dismiss top prospects and a 1st realy fast. IMO it'll be another project type player and a 2nd.

Default Evander Kane troubles: Refuses to play after Byfuglien throws track suit in s...

Sure seems like sides are leaking their sides of the story now

Edit: my post is so lame. I wrote it 10 pages back when information was coming out. But who would have thought this would side swipe into a to and fro on whether throwing clothes into the shower is bullying??!!

It's a professional sports league, if he is being immature it doesn't mean you act even more immature to cancel that out. How the hell is that going to solve the problem?

Terrible leadership in the locker room and from management if this has been going on long term and it's still the case.

Would that behaviour fly at any organization outside of hockey?

If he is breaking team rules then scratch him or suspend him. You don't just let his teammates destroy his clothes and possessions.

IMO there is the potential for some real Miami Dolphins- Ritchie Incognito style stuff here if this is truly ongoing and nothing was done to stop it or rectify it.
I could see calling it bullying if it's done to a quiet/nerdy guy like Bouwmeester. I have a much harder time calling it bullying when it's done towards a dbag like Kane.

A lot of the posts in this thread make you think 90% of CP know Kane personally and have a justified reason to hate him.

Its good for Jets it was Dustin that threw his clothes in the shower, otherwise I'm sure this would have drifted into a race hazing debate

I've talked to him a couple times (drunk, both he and I) at Cowboys and he was a super good guy... I think the Canuck stink adds a negative bias towards him.

hes hit 19 a couple times in injury reduced seasons. over the last 5 years his goal/game would equate to roughly 26 goals in an 82 game season. He has some injury trouble but he is essentially a 24 year old glencross, with a ceiling as high as say James Neal or better.

Kane is a good hockey player, and would be a good addition to any team - on the ice.

it really just comes down to how much he is a distraction off it.
