Any 3 point games and we go to anywhere from 84.8% to 85.1%
We are currently at 85.4%

I would agree with that the flames are better off with a Canucks win. The sharks I feel are the most likely team in a playoff spot to fall out of it. I think the Cannucks are probably in.

While that game is interesting for matchups, losses for Colorado, Dallas and LA would make our chances of clinching playoffs even higher

It says a great deal about the position we have put ourselves in that the result of those games won't change our odds significantly. In complete control of our destiny right now.

Oh, and the Oilers are so bad that we could end the season 0-30-0 and still have a one in three chance of finishing ahead of them.

And if the oilers won every single game from here on out we'd still likely finish higher

FYI the magic number is 18.5 between the Flames and Edmonton. Probably sometime between family day and the trade deadline it won't be mathematically possible for Edmonton to catch Calgary.

So last night turned out as best as we hoped? I mean Van has games in hand, SJ is back 2 points ahead of us with us having 1 game in hand, Colorado, Dallas, Vancouver and LA lose.
All things considered about as good as we could hope for?

The more I look at the standings every night, the more I am convinced that the Flames will make the playoffs, and are likely to play either SJ or Vancouver in the first round. With how things are going I think the Flames finish either #2 or 3 in the division, and will thus play either #3 or 2 in the division.
This is fantastic news, because the Flames match up very well against both of them.

The next four games... Pitts, San Jose, LA, Vancouver. Come out of those with four points, and we are still in good shape. Come out with six and we are laughing.

I think your assessment of the current situation is accurate, but as someone else mentioned here yesterday the Canucks are looking poor and the injuries they have are really hurting them. They could free-fall right out of it. They looked awful at home against the Sharks team Calgary handled just the night before.
I live out here in Canuck-land, and I can see my co-workers starting to sweat. Could be just the effort of trying to decide the right moment to leap from the bandwagon!

The Canucks goal scoring has been trending down since the start of the season; at this point most of their scoring comes from their first line. They have been getting better goaltending though it will be interesting to see if it can keep making up for their trouble scoring.

So many unlikely things happening ...
Calgary goes 8-2-0
Vancouver starts to slide
Jets implode with Kane
Kings get in a huge funk
Unreal.

It is destined.
SF Giants - check
Calgary Stampeders - check
New England Patriots - check
Calgary Flames - bet on it
The happiest timeline.

The hockey gods are slowly but surely blessing us a little bit at a time. Whatever everyone is doing to appease them, keep it up.

I'd like to get out of this pattern though.
Franchise has no luck for ten years then gets it all in one season. Tough on the nerves.

I woke up this morning and was so happy to see all the teams who are below us lose and I don't care that the sharks jump ahead of us, they don't scare me. It would be great if Anaheim finished 1st, us second and the sharks 3rd in our division. I would love to play the sharks first and have home ice advantage in the playoffs.
If we make it that is.

We will probably finish lower next year as everything that went right this year is unlikely to repeat. But the team continues to improve for the long term.

Agreed. Long term it would appear we're in a good place, but this year has been a series of fortunate incidents. Don't get me wrong, the flames deserve to be on the playoffs this year on merit, but lots went right for that to happen
