This is our glaring issue offensively. Jones and Bouma, whom I don't hate, are not top 6 players in the NHL. At least on teams serious about winning a Cup.
Well, Glencross is hurt. I think Colborne can make top 6 eventually. And Bennett is on the way. Poirier has potential, so does Sven, so does Ferland.
This is year 2 of a rebuild. Don't despair.

I am fine with giving Sven a game but he has done nothing to warrant all the praise he gets around here. Had he kicked down the door by playing well at the AHL level or even in camp he would be playing regularly...he hasn't and isn't
His emergency call up was both his friend and his enemy.
Minnesota is capable of playing well, and they did tonight. They managed to push back most times when Calgary tried to mount a comeback, and Dubnyk gave them what they needed. If Calgary could have managed the offence they generated in the third all game, they would have potted a couple and won.
Byron seriously needs to fire the puck off the goalie's chest and hope for a rebound or something. I don't know how you learn to "finish" -- you either have hands or you don't?
Any chance we can bring in Theo to be his breakaway consultant?

Theo went 5 hole a lot (remember his breakaway when he did the big cross ice celebration). Mind you that was on standup guys with skinnier pads.

Tries the same move the Jokinen perfected. Jokinen had the similar speed, but also the reach to get the goalie moving and "open" . Byron doesn't have the reach so the goalie isn't as "open" and Byron is too quick to try and slide it in.

Byron needs to shoot instead of deking the goalie all the time. It wasn't his fault we didn't tie the game but a timely goal from him would have helped.
