Scott Cullen chimed in with this. Sorry if Fata.

To Calgary: For LW Mason Raymond and C Matt Stajan, with the Kings retaining part of Richards' salary.
Raymond has been a frequent healthy scratch and Stajan has been playing fourth-line minutes, so their on-ice contributions aren't very significant, but they would be cheaper for the Kings, either to keep and play in depth roles this season or to buy out in the offseason. Maybe throw Flames winger David Jones into the mix too.

First time I've seen David Jones mentioned.

I am down with Raymond and Stajan for Richards and a 1st. Something tells me Richards needs a change in scenery and that Hartley can get him back on track. A Mike Richards of a few years ago would really help the Flames.

There is no way we trade Hudler. Not only has he been playing great since we signed him, but he has taken on a big roll with the young players on this team. He is literally our best and most consistent forward at the moment.

I'd tend to agree, but it's a huge risk. 1st rounder should be the minimum return we get back with Richards or no deal.

Hudler, Stajan and Jones are pretty important role players on this team right now. They all showed that against Buffalo. Why would anyone suggest we get rid of them for a guy like Richards who is apparantly going full-Scott Gomez?

Hudler ain't going anywhere. Francis is off his rocker on that one.
The only logic I see there is that the Kings would want Hudler included in the rumoured trade that involved Toffoli. Perhaps LA counter-offered with a omething like Richards + Toffoli for Stajan & Hudler?

Right now Richards' stats = Stajan's. About the same PPG, Stajan is better on face offs. It appears Richards doesn't like his role on the Kings, whereas Stajan accepts his.
If you can get a first, which looks like it would result in Calgary having two picks close to each other, maybe. But the other things to remember is that these are real dollars everyone is asking the owners to spend on a 4th liner. Not happy with Raymond's $3 million? You'll love Richards' $5.

No more reclamation projects. I'd much rather have Stajan on this team than Richards. That isn't a slight against Stajan either. The guy has worked hard here the last couple seasons and does whatever the coaching staff asks of him without a single complaint. He fills a valuable role for the Flames. Would Richards be willing to accept that role?
The only way I'd want Richards is if LA includes a high pick or prospect and takes our garbage in return. There is no reason for us to do them any favours. And we're not trading Hudler so if Lombardi asked for him as a return then I hope Treliving laughed hysterically before hanging up the phone.

The only way I take Richards is if Mcgratton comes back up. That way we have someone to smack him on the back of the head every time he gets piled up at Cowboys.
Outside of that forget it. He's the last guy I want around our rookies.

I agree if we can move Raymond, Stajan, or Engellend for Richards and a 1st with the Kings eating $1M per on the remainder of the deal I would take it.
It would be awesome to make the playoffs and get a pick in the top 14

Let's give them Raymond and Engelland, Engelland so their bottom pairing can suffer .

I listened to the Francis interview and Waker chimed in with his own proposals at the end.
Stajan for Richards and a 3rd
Bollig for Richards and a 2nd
Smid for Richards straight up.
All terrible deals for Calgary. I think we need that first round pick coming back or the Kings eat $2M per season on the deal

Ugh, terrible. The kings would have to retain around $1m AND include a 1st. They retain more unless they take Stajan, Raymond or Engelland.

I think a first round pick is the minimum we would get back and ask for a first and either a good young player or a good prospect. I wouldn't mind Stajan for Richards and a first and prospect. Even if we threw in someone else like Smid or Raymond, they'd still have to give at least a first.

Just got a notification on my phone that Calgary is in talks. Sounds super cereal.
Any of Raymond, Engellend, Bollig and a first I'd be super pumped on. I have trouble disliking Stajan so not sure if I want him gone.

If this goes down this could be how Trevling is remembered down the road.
For better or worse.
