No group of people are immune from bring racists, or being the victims of racism. When your life is not going well, it's human nature to look for a scapegoat. I still believe that the best way to deal with this situation is to narrow the income gap between Aboriginals and non-Aboriginals.

In Winnipeg, this is a big problem, as huge chunks of the poorest areas of the inner city are ethnically Native. If we can help them out of the vicious cycle of poverty by creating resources for them (sports, cultural centres, rec centres, and schools that emphasize native culture, etc.) it would go a long way and building up the confidence of the Native youth.

What else should we do? Throw money at them? That is not going to work. I'm all in favor of abolishing the reservations, as most look like third world countries, but its a very complicated issue. I wish I had the answer, as I have nothing but love for our Native brothers and sisters.

That kind of stuff is really bad in Labrador, too. I've heard stories from my company as to what happens when some of our Caucasian employees drive through some of the smaller aboriginal communities. Not even driving company trucks, they get instantly pelted with projectiles when present just because of their skin color - regardless of who they are or what they're doing.

Come on man. These knotted-pantied article readers can't see the big picture. How are we ever going to resolve systemic discrimination against First Nations people in the provisions of services in the Winnipeg municipality if we can't talk about violence against whites in Zimbabwe? Everything is connected!

A quick fix might be for your company to just send the black employees in. Maybe they could even try sending in some asian employees... might even trick the First Nations' people into thinking they're their own.

You made the connection, so I welcome your ideas to solve it!

My company doesn't make business decisions based on people's skin color, thanks. Maybe your company does that, I don't know. Thankfully, I don't work for a company like that.

Thanks! But since you're the one who called it a "real life and relevant example" in this thread, I'll defer to your insight!

Hmmm... it seemed to me that if aboriginals were targeting your company's caucasian employees because they're caucasian, your company could protect them by sending in non-caucasian employees who presumably wouldn't be targeted. I was just trying to help, but I don't know though as I don't work there. I'm glad you work for a colour-blind company though. If only all of us could be so lucky, eh?

I was expressing my concern for the discrimination our caucasian brethren face in Labrador. That's what the thread is about isn't it?

You're right about the swimming thing though. I've complained on here before about my parents failing to teach me (usually in threads about child poverty).

Yep, that's racism, the topic of the thread! You get a gold star!

You're right, there's a plethora of races to choose from up there. Amazing foresight.

That's what I'm saying. This thread is about racism generally. These knotted-pantied posters like rube cube and Igottago don't get that, what with their dramatic attempts to have a discussion on the merits of the article in the OP and the issues raised therein. We'll set 'em straight though!

Thanks for the gold star. Make sure you take one for yourself. I don't want you to ever feel that everything isn't always about you.

I was just trying to be helpful. I didn't realize a plethora of races was needed to resolve what you claim to be racial attacks by aboriginals on caucasians for being caucasian. If your claim presents the entire picture of discriminatory treatment, any non-caucasian could do their job and not endure the targeting. Right? But again, I don't know... it's not my company or my claim. Then again, specifics and circumstances don't matter anyway... it's all about generalized racism in the end...

Ironically, you're now veering the conversation away the OP's thread topic by trying to continue some kind of creepy, obsessive debate here that doesn't talk about aboriginal racism in Winnipeg. You just want to engage me at this point. Congrats on being the world's biggest hypocrite. Anything posted by you past this point just perpetuates that. Give it up already.

You're the one that suggested racial HR policies, and switching up people's skin colors, which is a bizarre statement given the aforementioned location. I don't think you have a damn clue as to what you're talking about here, and I don't think you should be making further comments on something you obviously know nothing about.

and yet you keep responding... nah, the thread was derailed long ago with extensive posting by those who admitted not even reading the article. In any event, since yesterday it's mostly been you (and I) posting. I'm doubtful any one else even cares any more.

I don't understand... I thought you wanted to have a talk with your "new alliance of friends". I've left the "gated community bubble" and I'm on your side man, just trying like you to have an honest discussion about race. I look forward to your response.

I suppose that's fair. Given that you raised it as a pertinent discrimination claim and could obviously flesh it out more to show its relevance, I shouldn't question it. I was wrong to do that.

Every color of person suffers racism to varying extents. Muta is right.

Now just drop the whole thing. It's done.

Well, I read the article, so swing and a miss there. Also, this thread was pretty much dead until you weirdly revived it again yesterday. So in any event, this thread's continuation is squarely on your shoulders at this point, not mine.

As for your your second paragraph, lol. You're not trying to talk about race, you're just trying to engage me and inflame the conversation, and everyone can see it. You're basically trolling now.

I never said you hadn't read the article, so... swing and a hit? Anyway, I'm not sure what your issue is. I'm responding directly to precise things you've written in here as of yesterday and today. I would assume that's what you want. It's not like I'm resurrecting a thread from weeks ago.

It's almost like you don't even know what you're saying and then when called out on it you respond as though you said something else entirely.

Ya, it's almost just like that.

Dude, just give it up already. The thread was on its way down the page (since everyone was tired of it already) and you decided to revive it. Only you.

I know exactly what I'm saying. You're just here to inflame, and everyone can see it.
