I love the LazyWolf standing on the sideline who watches it happen and jumps in on the free meal.

The 2 wolves who go chasing off after the big buffalo are so Bouma and Byron.

Actually, I want him to be the one that chases the big one. The guy seems like he'll never quit and will go after the hardest opponent by himself if need be. I want a guy who will skate up to the other teams bench and challenge the whole team at the same time. We need more crazy on this team.

I have serious misgivings about the amount of crazy Wolf will bring to the Flames.

I hope it is a lot less crazy that he was carrying around in Germany, because he was pretty much off the rails over there.

Wolf on the ice this afternoon sporting number 45. Baertschi and Wotherspoon out there as well. #Flames

This is going to be a very interesting recall for Sven. Skill LW goes down, and that is what Sven will be expected to replace. At both ends of the ice. This could well be the call-up where Baertschi either reaffirms his place as a part of the Flames future, or if he becomes trade bait.

If he can bring the crazy without it being detrimental to the team...

Fat chance, I know.

Do you think he is expected to replace Glencross? I think we have more then enough in depth on the roster to fill in for him. It could be a case of him replacing Someone like Raymond and given a chance at moving up the depth chart. Either way I think you are right and this is going to be a very interesting call-up for Baertschi since Glencross is out right now.

IIRC he led the German league in PIMs.

He was a 'deliver a brutal head shot, then punch the guy on the ice, then start punching the first guy who comes over to say anything about it" kind of player.

He hasn't been suspended in the AHL yet, which is a good sign, but I have serious misgivings about bringing a guy with that level of crazy onto the NHL team.

Wolf has been physical in Adirondack without being a detriment to the team. No reason to think he won't play a similar game here.

They simply didn't know what to do with him in Germany.

Wolf plays a similar style to Milan Lucic, but isn't as skilled as the Bruins forward.

Crash bang, goal.

He will hit, he will fight, and if given the opportunity, he will snipe it.

I'm not too concerned if he brings his A game (crazy), I'm more concerned that he gets turned into a pylon and a is a total liability because he can't do crossovers.

I've never seen a single second of this guy play. Who's he comparable to? Better skater than Mcgrattan? Similar to Bollig but more of a loose cannon? Kind of a Zack Kassian?

I don't get why some people are trying to figure out the call-up. Wotherspoon for injured Smid, Wolf so they can try to find out what he can do in the big league before his contract expires. If he does well, then they'll probably be re-signing him. If not, then they might think about it. They can still re-sign him. I am sure him and Bollig will alternate being in the lineup. With Glencross out, Raymond not playing like he supposed to be, then with centre position pretty much filled up with Monahan, Backlund, Stajan and Jooris it just make sense to call up Sven than bringing up Granlund again.

If for example David Jones is out, then they'll consider replacing him with another big body winger Michael Ferland. I definitely think the coaching staff and management wants more from Mason Raymond and Brandon Bollig and right now they are not doing what they are capable of doing so they'll sit them out and put Sven and Wolf.

I was told last year indirectly by a euro scout Wolf was a meathead and would never "ever" see NHL silks.

Email sent.

That video was a little bad and I am not the biggest fan of that type of play. How many times has he done something at that level of stupid? as far as I know it was the only really crazy incident. I think he should get the benefit of the doubt that it was a one off until he repeats.

If Wolf plays physically and is smart about it, and if he isn't a defensive liability, he is an easy and obvious upgrade over Bollig. He has a real opportunity here and I hope he takes advantage of it.

For some reason he reminds me of Ville Nieminen.

He's actually very composed. I don't recall seeing him loosing his mind on people. He will hit hard, very hard, bone rattling hard if he's in an area to do so.

He's not actually slow, he's able to keep up with the play quite effectively, at least at the AHL level. Won't be able to see what he can do at the NHL level till he plays. He's not a typical goon, he can do that stuff and will drop the gloves, but he does have a surprising amount of skill. He absolutely sniped one last game picking the top corner. His shot is underrated.

Good to hear, however, could you speak about how his skating has improved from the beginning of the year? Seemed as though he needed to work on acceleration, overall speed, and agility in development camp. Thoughts?
