He seemed pretty decent most of the night, but as soon as the game was in real jeopardy, you could see his level change. I'd like to see him at that form all the time.
Great, exciting game.

He is also a rookie who is 5 points off the rookie scoring lead. People are sometimes ludicrous and ask too much of him.

Oh I definitely agree. Just something I noticed in-game that I thought was worth mentioning. The fact that none of those chances went in blows my mind. And really, he could have shot a couple of them on his own.

He was excellent last night, and on a lot of other nights. I almost feel like it is the Crosby syndrome to a point. It is hard to find people with the hockey IQ enough to play with him.

Being on all the time is something you can learn or be taught as you gain experience. He will get better at that.
But elevating your level of play when the game is on the line, is not something you can learn or be taught. Thats why we have something really good with this Johnny kid.

Yeah, you really need to be ready for the puck at all times when he has it.

Also, Doughty played a ton last night (31:51). You'd have to think they're in the market for a defencemen with Voynov's status up in the air.
|
They mentioned this yesterday prior to the game -- the Kings have played more hockey than any other team in the league the past few seasons. Plus, with Voynov gone Doughty's ice time has crept up 30 min plus per game, which may not be sustainable in the long term.
In any event, that's two games against the Kings where the Flames have had the upper hand in the final stages of the game.

Staying away from any source where you can learn the score of last night's game, NHL/Flames apps alerts off, trying to survive through the day till you back home and can watch the game. Not so easy during playoffs (nice problem to have - would like to have it this year) and key games, so often you end up watching live and being useless sleepy body in the office next day.

I don't know how anyone in European time zones watches anything.

I was about to shed tears for you until you acknowledged us. Unlike most, we love the east coast road trips. As those games finish around 2:30 am local time, I tend to watch them live, otherwise I watch the next day.
Back in 04, I watched the start of the Vancouver series in Banff. By game 7 I was back in London. When Gelinas scored, i went straight to work that morning.

The team we saw last night, that team makes the playoffs no problem. I don't know if I've ever seen such a fast game of hockey. The game is so fast nowadays it's nearly unbelievable, they play at such a fast pace it's easy to miss how hard the game actually is. Insanely fast decision making and pace changing, the games come down to minute mistakes and fractions of a second now.
Also, shot count says Flames were outmatched but they weren't. Shots from the perimeter don't really count for much.

I used to go to about 6 or 7 games a season, but haven't been since they moved out of the borough thanks to our crappy Council.
