There's no way the Flames can go 7 games against the Kings in a playoff round. But, I'm just stoked that they won!

So for shots and giggles, I watched the game again and counted the shots.
The official numbers from nhl.com:
Per...Cal...LA
1.......3.....10
2.......6.....17
3......10.....6
OT.....4......1
Tot...23...34
my count:
Per...Cal...LA
1.......5.....9
2......10....13
3......11.....4
OT.....5......1
Tot...31...27
Yes, I counted the Flames actually outshooting LA! And that included 5 LA shots that I thought were wide but I counted them because I was pretty certain they did.
At one point in the 2nd, they called the shots 24-5 and I had them at 20-10.
Just before LA scored, they called them 31-17 and I had them at 25-25
Not only did they ignore several Flames' shots, but they seemed pretty trigger-happy for LA shots. The only explanation that I can guess as to how many extra LA shots they had was that they were counting shots from behind the goal-line that went out front and Ortio played (I think there were 4 of those).

Going back to the beginning of this road trip a lot of pundits were figuring 4 points was the mark to hit for the Flames to stay in the hunt. Instead, the Flames have so far walked into 8 out of a possible 8 points while only allowing two total loser points to the opposition. Still the dreaded Anaheim game but this road trip is already a resounding success.
These guys are heading into the ASG on the right side of the coin flip. I love it!

This is true, as I did the same. Also the staples center has a history of favoring the kings with extra shots and hits.

flames don't play the prettiest of game, and it often seems as though they are being dominated, are hemmed in their own zone for extended periods of time, not possessing the puck for what seems like an eternity in stretches, yet through all that, they were able to still limit the kings grade A chances to a minimum, and the goal scored is a fortunate one (greene scoring?!).
really proud of this team. It would be amazing if they could get into the playoffs even after having that massive losing streak. Regardless, this season has me quite excited about the state of the flames franchise.
It's been so refreshing to see any player who is not doing their job get time as a scratch, regardless of pay grade, and players doing well be rewarded.
Now if there was only a way to replace/move out engelland and raymond, i would be over the top

Hoping for the same result Feb 2nd against the jets. The girlfriend got us front row seats for that game. First time in 8 years not sitting in nosebleeds, lol.

Probably posted a hundred times but there is no way the shot totals were accurate....or the hits, as usual in LA.

"The fact of the matter is that we need points, especially against teams like that," captain Dustin Brown said. "It's a four-point game. It doesn't matter how good we're playing or how bad we're playing. We need to find a way to win games."
Lol...

Probably a bit of both. He's not wrong. They're the more talented team, for sure, and should be beating us at home. Add in that we were tied with them in points going into that game and you know what he's getting at.
Kings have been pretty disappointing this year, but really bad of late.

By mentioning it being a 4 point game right after that he was likely talking about teams in the playoff race.

Awesome game. Just awesome. This team is so fun to watch and so full of personality. Last year was fun to watch because we weren't expecting them to win but they kept it close. This year they're even more fun to watch as they're not only keeping it close but winning.
Huge Ortio fan.

well its just a stat and if you count fewer shots it makes the save percentage of your goalie look worse.
The best stat is 2-1 Flames
