Imagine if we had a line of gaudreau-monahan-(2001-2006) Iginla. It would be like a mega version of the Tanguay-Langkow-Iggy line of the past

Is Iginla helping Colorado? I would suggest he is, at least from a numbers standpoint. He could've absolutely helped the Flames.

The change had to happen but I think had he come back (I thought the Flames should've seriously considered signing him in the offseason) after the fact, it could've been good for both parties. He's not a guy that wouldve come in and disrupt Gio's leadership, Iggy has been pure class his entire career. As much as some would paint it otherwise, Iggy has always been a team player.

I would love for Sean to be able to pick up some of Iggy's mean streak. I feel like he's right on the verge of figuring out just how big he really is out there (and still getting bigger). I also think that he'd only need to see Iggy step in for him once or twice before he started just kicking some asses on his own.

Addendum: I'm not entirely sure how Iggy would affect Gio's authority in the room though. I could see young forwards wanting to listen to Jarome instead of Giordano, which is pretty much exactly what would destroy one of the major things this team has right now: chemistry.

While I think it would be best to wait one more season... I think iggy coming back would be just fine. Have to remember that by that point especially, most of the guys on this team weren't here when iginla was so they all look at gio as their leader. It's not like iggy is coming back to a dressing room with cammalleri, tanguay, jaybow, regehr, etc... Who would all naturally see iginla as their leader since he always was. Gaudreau, Monahan, baertschi, Brodie, etc. pretty much only know giordano as captain. Iggy would provide great supplemental leadership and scoring. Plus all the grit you need in the western conference.

I saw the game earlier this year where landeskog took on a veteran (I think it was Andrew laad but I could be wrong) and iginla was standing there just dying to get in there and take over for the kid cause he would never hesitate to protect his teammates. I know landeskog has always been a gritty player but I have to think having Jerome iginla next you out there would make you want to emulate him. Cause that's what landeskog looked like in that fight. It was awesome. And yeah... I could see the same thing happen with Monahan. I want iginla to come back and be a key part of this team one day... I hope the time will be right next year.

None.

With respect to Bouwmeester, first of all, I would rather have the return. Poirier and Smith are our best RW prospects.

But it's not just that. I think having Bouwmeester in the lineup fundamentally changes the way our defense gets played (i.e. ice-time). I would rather Giordano and Brodie get the hard minutes (and no, I don't think you can simply say that Bouwmeester could have 2nd pair minutes).

Also, I like the current work ethic and intensity on the team I always felt that Bouwmeester lacked that next gear - that when you really needed him, he didn't step up to the plate.

Is he better than our current 2nd pairing guys? Definitely. But I am not sure about what would happen to the dynamic of the team if we added him.

I like the direction the rebuild is taking. I'll pass on all those guys, thanks.

Came here to post this. Antron Stralman and Brandon Prust, I'd have them back in a heartbeat.

None of the above mentioned folks.

Only ones i'd consider were Iginla and Bouwmeester.

Love Iginla, favourite player over the past decade, but the flames needed a change in attitude and that change couldn't have taken place without the captain leaving. Now, if he were to come back, i'm unclear on how that dynamic would work in the dressing room.

Bouwmeester can be an effective dman, and his puck movement and strength at being a defensive defenceman would be awesome to have in the top 4. That being said, i just don't believe he's got a killer competitive attitude that is needed of your top players if you want to be a real contending team.

Prust would be a good addition, though i think bouma has completely taken over that role.

This might come off as a bit of a surprise, but i think i preferred Westgarth, or Jackman of a few years ago over bollig for that 4th line winger position.

Jbo always had the wrong expectations put on him here. He was also relied on too heavily at both ends of the ice. In a support role he'd be very useful right now. I'm not even a huge fan of the guy and he doesn't exactly strike me as the character type but having him on our 3-4 with Russell would make a world of difference on the back end.

You simply can't deny that.

Haven't followed him but he was released from his tryout with the AHL Bruins.

Joel Otto, Sarge, Plett, Loob Gilmore, Nattris, Mullen. We've had some biguns. All good. We had some freakin good players.
Both on and off the ice.

I'd rather have Phaneuf on the second pairing than Wideman.

Both on and off the ice.
For $7.1M? No way, no how, not ever.

Having not exactly followed him either, I just don't get it. He's had 11 points in 20 games for a 0 net +/- in the AHL this year. He always seemed like a character guy, too. In his last 164 NHL games (his post-flames NHL career), he had 56 points and a +41 rating. Now at age 30 he can't break an AHL roster? What fell off so hard about his game?

I recall Zarley Zalapski contemplating a comeback. Is he an option?

What? Did nothing? His contract wasn't ideal, but he certainly did a lot more than nothing. The guy got such a hard time here because of his contract. It's a joke. I'd take Bouw back in a heartbeat.

I don't know if the context of the question takes into account the returns we got for the players (if any), if it were that I would probably redo Iggy... I miss him

Honestly happier with none, I don't hate any Flames decisions in the last year and a half (minus ROR) and am content with the way things are

he was a shutdown defensemen whose elite skating helped erase a ton of odd man rushes.

He just failed to be the 12-15 goals per season guy the flames needed from the point for his pay.
