Syria is also by far the biggest mess, and western troops never set foot there.

Looks like some pretty selective research to me. Maybe all attacks against religious minorities line #####e Muslims are really attacks Americans? But of a stretch.

Even so.

The majority of targets of Islamic terrorism are and always have been other Muslims. They are targeted for their slightly different religious beliefs.

It comes down to what offensive means. If it means anything that anyone could take offense at, that would leave pretty much nothing. The current picture on the cover of Charlie Hedbo to me is not offensive at all. To many (all?) Muslims, it may be offensive. Who gets to decide?
I would suggest that the images are news worthy. As such, it should be part of the news cycle on mainstream media. (Which means a very short life span, which is fine with me).

If there is a heaven, I imagine that the people behind Anonymous and the terrorists might meet there one day:

I think it's awesome that Anonymous sports a Guy Fawkes mask.

Even if they're empty threats, at least they're being directed in a helpful way rather than spreading viruses and hacking Sony.

Is it irony that Guy Fawkes was once considered a Catholic fundamentalist/terrorist in England has become the symbol for anti-establishment behavior and vigilantism?

I hate religion, I hate religious morons like these terrorists.
By great people I presume you mean non violent, friendly to their neighbours no matter what color, race or religious beliefs.

Maybe and a big maybe 98% would be for North America. Around the world it is probably around 80-85%. The religion itself needs to be changed, too many holes and interpretations for it ever to be even a "mostly" peaceful religion.

Maybe the world's 1.3 billion Muslims should vote on banning Sharia law and Wahhabism completely out of the muslim religion and rewrite a new testament for the Qur'an.

Anyone want to guess what the vote results would be?

Pretty poor unless you split those two things up into separate votes. I'm not sure any religion would vote with any serious numbers to adding to their holy book.

Yeah really.

The same way conservative American's go on about the founding fathers, when if they were around today, would be considered terrorists and anti-Americans.

So its an elegant bit of motivation. If you kill people by the numbers, you're actually doing them a favor because they get into paradise.

Sorry but someone's religious beliefs do not trump our rights in a free society to mock religion, not by any stretch of the imagination!

That second video is absolutely perfect. It is despicable that people are so offended by cartoons, or pictures, or novels, or whatever, that they go on shooting rampages and take hostages and murder innocent people. Despicable. That's why the Charlie Hebdo cartoons should have been re printed everywhere (as Hitchens says in the first video - to show solidarity with the French paper and because it is a news story and we have a right to see what is causing all the fuss), and also because we give in to these people when we do exactly as they say and exactly as they want.

Do not condemn the posting of pictures, condemn the murderous acts of people following the posting of pictures. It isn't their right to take away the lives of innocent people because they are offended.

I just can't grasp the absolute stupidity it takes to believe this rubbish.

Basicly brainwashed from birth I guess.

The following is a cherry-picked piece of info, so please interpret it as such. Just earlier today, I spoke with a colleague who is a distant relative of Mahmoud Taha. I'm not overly fimiliar with the story, but Mahmoud pretty much did exactly what you suggested. End result? Not so good. Here is the wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahmoud_Mohammed_Taha
