Study suggests circumcision increases risk of developing Autism
Quote:
Circumcision before the age of five can double a boy's risk of developing autism, controversial research suggests.
Scientists believe the finding may be linked to stress caused by the pain of the procedure.
The study of more than 340,000 boys in Denmark found that circumcision raised the overall chances of an autism spectrum disorder before the age of 10 by 46 per cent.
But if circumcision took place before the age of five it doubled the risk.
Circumcision also appeared to increase the likelihood of boys from non-Muslim families developing hyperactivity disorder.
The research, published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine, examined more than 340,000 boys born in Denmark between 1994 and 2003.
At the age of nine, their health was tracked - and almost 5,000 cases of ASD were diagnosed.
Professor Morten Frisch of the Statens Serum Institut, Copenhagen, who led the research, said: 'Our investigation was prompted by the combination of recent animal findings linking a single painful injury to lifelong deficits in stress response...and a study showing a strong, positive correlation between a country's neonatal male circumcision rate and its prevalence of ASD in boys.
He added: 'Today it is considered unacceptable practice to circumcise boys without proper pain relief.
'But none of the most common interventions used to reduce circumcision pain completely eliminates it and some boys will endure strongly painful circumcisions.'
The study goes on to discuss how painful experiences in babies have been shown - both in animal and human studies - to have a long-term effect on pain perception.
This is a characteristic often encountered among children with autism, they add.
Yup, I read the title myself and had a bit of a but it's a legitimate study published in a decent journal with a good sample size.

Ritual circumcision among Danish boys is linked to an overall 46–62% increase in ASD risk in the first 10 years of life, with the upper risk estimate obtained after restriction to the period with the most complete data. More strikingly, risk was 80–83% increased in the first 0–4 years of life, an increase that was restricted to infantile autism. Non-therapeutic cir-cumcision is uncommon in Denmark outside Jewish and Muslim communities, but due to our study’s national coverage over two decades (1994–2013), findings were based on fairly solid numbers, and a series of robustness analyses confirmed the main findings.
So then, there should be extremely high rates of Autism amongst jewish males since almost 100% of Jewish males are circumcised. Should be very easy to prove this ridiculous claim.
For the record, I am personally against circumcision, and wish I was never butchered because of my mothers silly beliefs. But I really think this is a silly claim, and you would immediately go to the Jewish community to validate these results.

If you read further than the first few paragraphs the study is pretty much torn to shreds. Basically "However experts have urged caution over the findings." down, or 2/3 of the rest of the article. Read it and see that this study is full of questions.
As for circumcision there is lots of benifits as stated in the article. Reduction of HIV risk, and some cancers. I am not saying every parent has to do it, it is a personal choice. Unlike the anti-vax crowd, this decision affects you and your kid, so I will never tell anyone they need to do anything other than read the science and make a call.

I think your math is very wrong. This study is clearly heavily flawed and no one should read too much into it, but it says circumcision increases your child's risk of developing autism, it doesn't say it makes you autistic. Secondly, as there are huge genetic questions raised if you look at a single ethnic group and try to correlate a universal procedure with a health outcome. The question then becomes: is there maybe a genetic reason so many Jewish people have autism?

North America/Western European Jews are very different than Middle Eastern Jews. The North American/Western European Jew bloodline is is heavily diluted. Almost every single Jewish relative I have is married to a non Jew, or has non-Jews in their family tree. However almost all of them still practice this ignorant practice. They think it makes them a super-Jew, and so traditional by mutilating their kids dinks. Even though half of them couldn't even read a single word of Hebrew.
What I am trying to say, is there are enough North American people like me, born to mixed Jewish families that had their penor wrecked, because of some stupid, old world, backwater thinking, that you could have a very good sample of circumcised men to test this theory against non-circumcised men.
Also I think I broke the record for the use of the word Jew and dink references in one post on CP.

Circumcision rates in N America have significantly dropped over the last 40 years, autism rates have massively increased.
Also if the study postulates that the trauma of the procedure cause autism then you would have to find a correlating trauma in every kid that has autism, you just can't argue some kids get autism due to trauma and some due to some other genetic or bio chemical reason it would be utterly asinine.

Autism rates have not massively increased according to a link in the vaccine thread.
You prefer the 'hey I am a flaccid version of a boner' look of the cut dink, vs the anteater/hooded/clocked uncut dink?
Really, as the video above said - all dicks look weird. Pretty sure they look the same erect? I doubt a chick could point out a cut vs uncut erect rod? If that's the case, then why does anyone care what a flaccid donger looks like?

Why can't you? Are you saying it has to be a singular same event for everyone?
e.g. The causes of MS are largely as yet unknown but it is believed in many cases it could be genetic, whilst at the same time there are strong suggestions that there are emvironmental risk factors. Is that asinine to suggest that?
Maybe it is nothing but regardless the sample size is large and the correlation is strong enough imo to warrant further investigation. And the thing is it's not going to be an expensive undertaking. The data is already collected.

Hey at least you didn't have your dick sliced up because some guy that made cereal decided he didn't like masturbation.
I admit this is a pretty holistic view on the whole circumcision thing, but at the end of the day, it really did get started in the US because of some foreskin hating cereal maker.
