I would agree that it would be considered a jersey fail, so I wouldn't do it myself. However, I would probably wear one of those jersey t-shirts with it for nothing else but to piss off all my friends who are on the side of hating the nickname so much they find it offensive.

I've started to think of Johnny's speed less and fast or with an explosive first step and more as 2 dimensional. Gaudreau is definitely deceptive. He has good speed when he is breaking away, but a lot of the time his instincts are so good that he doesn't need spend a lot of energy because he is already close to where he needs to be. He is not always displaying his speed, but it is there when he needs it.

Starting after he sat out the first time, has there been a game where he hasn't done something highlight reel worthy? I love how everyone gets on the edge of their seats and gets excited when he has the puck.

I think Burke was quoted last year saying that he considers the Flames as a competitor for all entertainment dollars, and that Gaudreau is a kid that will actually sell tickets. Burke is definitely right on that so far.

Look at the media attention he got today for being player of the week, and it's only going bigger and bigger. Awesome for him and the Flames!

I said this a few weeks ago and I think about it with every goal Johnny is part of... I imagine his "Sherlock Holmes vision" where time slows down and he calculates the play developing before it happens... Like he's aware of everyone on the ice and knows exactly what to do. Then, time resumes and he executes at super speed. And the play ends with the other team sprawled all across the ice and the puck in the net. He just needs a pipe to light up afterwards.

It's good for us to have a player who the other teams focus on. When other teams' D are chasing Johnny around like the coyote chases the roadrunner, it should free up some space for Hudler, Monahan, Glencross, Raymond and our D men. Johnny seems to thrive on having players aggression anyway.

A few years ago, if you shut down Iginla, the game was pretty much over. We had no other weapon. Now, we have multiple ones on the team.
