Haha, yeah. Open world games often have good replayability, and that Zelda looks promising.

I've been on the fence about getting a Wii U for months but today I finally caved.

From what I've been told, a good idea is to unbox it, set it up, get all the downloads and updates, then box it back up as best as possible. I've heard the updates can be a lengthy process and it'll let your kids play right away.

that is really a truism for any modern console. I was pretty amused when I bought a PS4, then had to wait well over an hour before I could play GTAV. It ended up being an hour of Super Smash Bros on the Wii.

Oh yeah, was the same way with me for the Xbox One. Bought it and let it sit while I had other things to do, towards the end of the day I thought time to set it up and play! Set it up... god dammit.. why didn't I do this this morning.

Wii U will have a very small library compared to the competitors when all is said in done.

Remember though I am saying its a worthwhile system but you will be missing a lot if that is all your are gaming on
I am noticing a trend in video games towards lower quality, streamlined, simplified, generic, formulaic, incredibly repetitive and bland productions. The only exception really is Nintendo, the last 20 games I've played have all been huge letdowns. If Nintendo is distancing themselves from the rest of the industry I'm fine with that, I'm going to buy a WiiU Zelda bundle and hopefully enjoy a game that isn't an offline mmo with terrible gameplay like so many games are these days. Miss out on EA hockey? Not really missing much.

It did take quite a while for the system to update itself. I played through the first world of Super Mario 3D World. So far I think it's pretty fun and I am looking forward to trying it out with a few friends. Now I have to decide if I want to get Mario Kart 8 or Smash Bros first...

Good idea but the wife might think I'm trying to get a head start on Xmas as this is my present more than the kids. My oldest is only 2 3/4 years so she not quite there yet but pretty close for video games. Maybe I'll open it up Xmas eve so I can hit up Xmas hard with wii u. Thanks for the heads up.

Mario 3D World is wicked fun in a group. We took the Wii with us while travelling to the Caribbean as a group of six. Played through most of 3D World over two nights lol.

Anyone else qualify for elite status on Club Nintendo? The rewards just went up and I am happy that I am getting exactly what I was hoping for; Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze. The selection doesn't seem too great so I am really glad I decided to buy WWHD instead of DK.

Official site is pretty bogged down so you can check them out here: http://nintendoeverything.com/club-n...rds-announced/

Considering between Mario Kart 7 (3DS) and some other Gold status games despite having Platinum. Not sure if I want anymore WiiU option as my main storage is full and don't want to bother dedicating an additional harddrive at the moment. Had Mario Kart 7 before but traded it in because I didn't get a chance to play with friends anymore and even now I don't think I will. Would be nice to just have with me though.

Since this is bumped, there is a Nintendo Direct this afternoon at 4pm for new Wii U and 3DS games. Should be interesting as we know very little about their line-up for the rest of 2015.

I am fairly pleased with what came out of that Nintendo Direct yesterday. More Smash Bros fighters, Mario Kart 8 DLC is coming this month (instead of May) along with a 200 CC mode o.0 and N64 games on the VC.

Splatoon and Yoshi's Woolly World both look like great fun games. After all the death and dark seriousness of the games I'm playing now (Bloodborne, Dragon Age) and some of the games I have on my radar (Witcher, Batman), those two will be kind of refreshing.

I wish there was still a Mario Kart + WiiU bundle. That's the only thing I really care about.
