Come on now... Do you think the Preds (who never spend a lot of money because of an internal cap) are going to trade away a potential #1 defenseman on an entry level deal for a one dimensional player (the kind that's never succeeded in Nashville) who's making more than most of the team and is being exposed by the media for his defensive....well for having absolutely no defensive game and potential character issues?
Hall will get a pretty good return but he won't get you a young #1 defenseman.

Taylor Hall is not worth Seth Jones. Period.
Deal with it.

Taylor Seguin also supposedly had an attitude problem who was never going to help a team in win in the playoffs.
Seriously, Hall isn't having a good year but he's been producing at a better than point a point game pace the past two seasons. He's a legitimate 1st line winger and he's the type of player you trade a potential first pairing defenseman for. The reality is that 1st line players don't get traded often and potential 1st pairing defensemen don't get traded often. But when the do, 1st line forward for 1st pairing defensemen is a common swap.

I don't think it's that cut and dried. You're right that the Predators likely wouldn't make that deal but Hall is probably worth a blue chip prospect like that and then some.

Okay. He won't get back Jones, but that's the type of player he'll return if Hall is traded. The fact you guys laugh at that idea just reinforces that you're delusional when it comes to him. He's a dynamic player.

Seth Jones may have been picked 4th but he was considered to be neck and neck with Mackinnon as a prospect. He's a potential Chris Pronger. The kind of kid you build a team around. Hall is not a centrepiece of any team other than the Oilers. No one builds their team around a left winger. Hall does not get you Jones.

No, it is laughable because Jones was the specific player brought up and it's laughable because it won't happen.
It's another thing to say that Hall will or could get a good young player but not from a budget team and probably not a potential franchise defenseman. Hall will get them a really good return but not a franchise defenseman from a budget team.

Ask 29 GM's their opinions about trading a center piece future top pairing defenseman and to a man they'll all say that its a move that normally ends up with a fired GM because its a move that they'll regret.
If asked Craig Mactavish will mumble about the visibility of toaster strudels and the accountability of his hair gel.

Name a big name winger who was traded for a blue chip/can't miss defensive prospect. I can't think of a recent one.
James Neal (whose stats resemble Hall's) was traded for Hornvist and pending RFA Spaling.

Jones was just an example of the calibre/type of young player Hall would get, budget team has nothing to do with it.
Although I'm genuinely curious on what you guys think he will/would return if/when he's traded.

Jones is not an example of the caliber of player that Hall would get.
Hall isn't worth Jones.
It shouldn't be hard to conclude from that that Hall isn't worth a player of Jones' caliber.
Let me make it more graphic:
Hall =/= Jones
Jones = player of Jones' caliber
therefore...
Hall =/= player of Jones' caliber.
When pretty much everyone disagrees with you, concluding that they are all biased is not usually the best plan of action.

A blue chipper? Sure. A potential franchise player? No. Not at this point.
The Oilers are probably looking at getting a good prospect (probably a winger, because Oilers), a first rounder and filler.

Hall is worth more then Jones lol, I realize this is CALGARY puck taking about an EDMONTON player so obviously reality is blurred for the majority of you. Although some do agree (FAN & Tinordi)
What would you say would be fair for Hall then?

I'd rather have Rick Nash than Taylor Hall. And Rick Nash was traded for a couple OK players, a bust d-man prospect and a conditional 3rd round pick.

This is a good point, the Nash trade is probably the most comparable to what Hall might get.
edit: although after I posted this I realized Nash had a NTC and that might have diminished the return he got

Rick Nash was also 28 when he was traded, Hall just turned 23. Last year Nash had 39 points and Hall had 80. You can have Nash, I'll take Hall. Also, Nash had not gotten more than 58 points in the four years before he was traded.
