Even if they finished last but put the effort in, it's still so much better than those years and years of floating uninspired BS.

Still so much fun to follow along this season.
That's loser mentality. I'd rather play like #### and come away with 2 points. Points get you to the play offs. Saying oh well we tried doesn't

This is exactly how I feel. They are trying. They don't have the depth of high end talent to compete with the best over the course of a season yet.

Worst case scenario is them sliding into the range of getting a top 10 pick. If so, we'll get someone in the range of Bennett in the draft. There are about 8 or 9 really good players this year. If that's the worst case scenario for a rebuilding team, that's not a problem.

For pete's sake that was not a rookie mistake. He slipped and fell and it can happen to anyone including Toews or other good players. It is unfortunate it happens and it is unfortunate that Chicago scored the winning goal because if it but I wouldn't blame Gaudreau and even call that a freaking rookie mistake. Also that slipped has nothing to do on whether he played more games than he was used to. Total BS to blame the kid!

That loss was not his fault.
The loss wasn't his fault at all, the goal is on him though. You can't do what he did and not expect, at the very least, an odd man rush the other way.

Looks Luke they can set-up just fine. The team reliance of the back end to produce is what scares me. Guys along the board bboth better options consistently looking for that perfect pass for the D-men to be unload a bomb. The fact the back end was carrying this team earlier this season was a god send now, teams know that's the go to play when the flames gain entry.

This is the weirdest losing streak I've seen this team have in a long time. Can't fault them for any of the losses. They've played well enough to win all of them. The effort/buy in of the team is there. Yet, no puck luck. I'm not even upset at all with this streak. Hopefully the tide will turn soon.

It's actually the polar opposite of loser mentality, FYI.

Chicago is one of those teams that controls the play so well. It seems like most teams only cycle in the bottom 1/3 of the offensive zone. The Blackhawks seem to use almost the entire offensive zone. Every time they are in the zone I'm worried they'll either score or we'll take a penalty. But we hung with them.

I was really hoping we could sneak out a win, but I'm not that disappointed in the loss. The Flames lost 2-1 to one of the best teams in the NHL. We're in a playoff spot (for now). I got the same nervousness/excitement feeling in that 3rd period that I usually only get in playoffs. For a team that was expected to be competing for last place, I'm not mad at all.

When we we start losing games 5-1, 7-2, *insert oilers score*, etc.. I'll have something more negative to say about this team. But all I asked for this team is to be entertained, and I am.

Didn't think the Flames played as well a game as they have been. Hiller was outstanding however, neither goal was at all on him.

Besides looking overmatched by a better team, I just thought the Flames looked flat. We need to nip this losing streak at 5, need some big wins coming up.

Actually that's a realistic mentality. We are in year two of a rebuild...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, we've been spoiled so far this season. Some people need to just sit back and enjoy the ride. We are seeing huge positive steps from the team so far this season. The fact were competing for the playoffs is gravy as far as I'm concerned.

Gaudreau messed up in the winning goal but otherwise I thought he had a really good game. I really felt bad for him when they scored.

The Flames were right there until the third. Chicago is a great team and I hope one day the Flames will be like them.

Time to get things back on track Tuesday.

Great point, and it was certainly baffling to see it in a tie game, late in the third, on the road. That is when you need to be patient, lock it down, and wait for the home team to make a mistake. At least get through regulation and then take your chances in OT.

0-5 since the vets started coming back. Don't want to blame them entirely, but Stajan and Raymond have been junk on this road trip.

It's not a situation of "wow they played like garbage again" and "they need to figure out how to play hockey again".

I am actually pleased by how they are playing despite losing. They could have easily had 3 or 4 wins on this streak if they got some good bounces.

Big difference between what the fans are thinking and what the coaches will be saying. Absolutely, I agree with you that this isn't the right mentality for the coaching staff to be preaching to the team. But what's the point of the fans getting pissed off at a young team that by most accounts is ahead of schedule in the rebuild?

I hate losing as much and probably more than the next guy, but as a fan right now I'm looking for progression, not instant results like you seem to seek.

You make it sound like he threw a blind back pass to no one, he was barely 4 feet inside the offensive zone, that shouldn't turn into almost clear 2-0 the other way if both the dmen don't jump up on the play. It happens and you don't fault Brodie or Gio for trying to do what they do best, but don't make it sound like Johnny made a terrible hockey play

I really don't care what anyones response is. Stajan, Raymond and Colborne coming back has turned the Flames mojo on it's head.
Also waiting to put the Flames 2 most creative players, Johnny and Hudler with 30 seconds left is not going to get it done.

Yeah. What bugged me on the winning goal was Gio and Brodie. You can't push forward that aggressively in a tie game. No excuse for them being that out of position on a turn over a few feet inside the offensive zone.
