You can't deny there's a ####ing ridiculous disparity compared to pretty much every other civilized country.

When exactly have I done that? Stop deflecting. This is a thread about an issue in America, why are we talking about Canada?

I get it, America sucks and everyone else is better! Punching a cop and trying to steal his gun and you should be considered a hero!

I would hope a trained officer could subdue me any number of ways that do not involve unloading a clip into me.

Brown' blood inside the police cruiser and police account that the gun went off in the vehicle means that most likely brown did rush the officer and things went downhill from there. I'm sorry but if anyone attacks an officer, especially one in his vehicle does not get my sympathy. This kid was up to no good and he is most likely the one who escalated the situation and paid with his life. Hard lesson for people to learn but anyone wearing a shield is not the type you should try to physically challenge.

If a regular citizen shot a guy 6 times for punching him in the face...I'm pretty sure that citizen would go to trial.

How this doesn't even get an involuntary manslaughter indictment is insane to me. At the absolute very least it was excessive force. Brown was completely unarmed, if he'd been aiming a gun at Wilson it would be an entirely different story. Punching an officer is absolutely grounds for arrest, but not grounds for execution.

because you act as if we're the only country with problems.

legal system did its job and confirmed that it was a justified shoot. but since the guy is black this is wrong. if he were white none of this would be on the tv about.

Nah... don't you get it? There wasn't enough evidence, so why bother with a trial!

Stop being so hurt by something no one has said. You're getting butt hurt by things you are imagining. Nobody has mentioned Canada.

Seriously stop accusing me of "acting as if America is the only country with problems".

Either quote where I said that or even insinuated it or just stop.

No one is saying Michael Brown was a hero, so you can step back away from the hyperbole a little bit.

All anyone is saying is that robbing a store and punching a cop isn't worthy of being loaded up with six gunshots.

A cop with any kind of training would've managed to arrest an unarmed man without having to shoot him 6 times. And this isn't the first time an officer has used excessive force. This wasn't the first time that week that an officer used excessive force.

This is a weekly occurrence in the US. This is a problem. This is something that needs to be dealt with.

An indictment may have meant that perhaps a step in the right direction was being made. Instead--more of the same.

Did anyone stop and think that maybe Brown's blood was in the car because that's where he and the cop fought?

This was a very big kid and a smaller cop, guess that would not have happened had the police still had size requirements like they used to. But the thing is this cop probably feared for his life in one way or another and acted in a way too preserve his life. Would this be the case in Canada, hard to say, we as a society do not challenge police as much as they do down there. The things police see down there night in night out would make a person's head spin and they react in very different ways than police up here do.

Why did they pick this time to announce this? I think they knew the reaction that was coming and picked this ti put these people in a bad light again.
