Sounds like he's been cleared of criminal conduct but the police are dissatisfied/embarrassed enough with what happened that they'll get his resignation as an appeasement attempt. My guess anyway.

Darren Wilson Might Be Ready To Speak On The Mike Brown Shooting

Quote:
But according to CNN’s media reporter Brian Stelter, Wilson has reportedly been active in at least one thing: shopping an exclusive first interview to tell his side of the story. Stelter detailed his scoop about the “off the record” meetings on his show yesterday, which you can watch here.

Stelter lists a who’s-who of prominent TV anchors who have tried to get that interview with Wilson, including CNN’s own Don Lemon and Anderson Cooper and NBC’s Matt Lauer. Anderson for his part claimed on Twitter that he met with Wilson but was not granted the interview:
Quote:
The Washington Post‘s Erik Wemple had a great post earlier today that detailed what this all means. That off-the-record part is key, though: journalists typically employ the off-the-record courtesy to develop a trust with their subject in order to get him/her to come forward with his/her information. In Wilson’s case, off the record is paramount to getting him to share his side of the story–and, no matter what you believe, Wilson should be allowed to share what happened on the day Brown was shot and killed.
Quote:
Regardless, whoever gets Wilson to talk will probably have the interview of the year, barring anyone actually convinces Bill Cosby to speak on the alleged rape accusations against him. If that happens, expect Twitter to explode analyzing every uttered syllable, especially with a grand jury decision about whether to indict Wilson for his role expected soon.

Per @donlemon now on #CNN, a source close to Darren Wilson says Wilson's reps "have decided there is going to be no indictment." #Ferguson

The U.S. is just a mess.

Not a surprise, the resignation is the attempt at placating

protip: it won't work.

The fundamental danger of a non-indictment is not more riots, it is more Darren Wilsons.

Not really, it's not like an indictment here would stop every wrongful shooting by law enforcement going forward.

No, but we're never going to see any kind of cultural shift if these guys aren't held accountable.

I saw an interview with the KKK grand wizard and he said they(KKK) were there in force, armed, to keep the peace and help defend innocent people. He sounded like they were just itching to start shooting people, and only needed an excuse, to get going.

Why would you announce this late at night? The cover of night means that even if the protests are by-and-large peaceful, darkness makes it much easier for troublemakers to draw attention away from what the actual protest is about?

Why would you not announce this in broad daylight? The grand jury made their decision hours ago. This whole situation is just ugly, and it's not going to get any better after this.

How do you not even take this man to trial, when there's no real clear evidence one way or the other? This wasn't to determine if he was guilty--just if the situation was questionable enough to warrant a trial.

Kind of disgusted, but not at all surprised.
