So, what does this say for the Ducks? Do they "have it all," or do they also need to add to compensate for that part of the game where the Flames owned them?

I also agree with Burke, and do look forward to the Flames getting bigger and stronger in the near future. But I no longer think that this is as major an impediment as I used to.

Interesting. Can we then counter argue that in the third period the Flames showed that Anaheim can't contain their speed and puck movement from the backend, through the neutral zone, and in the middle of the ice?

I found myself thinking after the second that the Flames were not big enough nor strong enough to play with the Ducks. In the third period, they made it look easy. I am starting to think that "getting pushed around" in the big, heavy Western Conference is not going to be much of an issue for this team.
That may be the case for a game during the season but I would hate to have to meet them in the playoffs at this stage. We aren't big enough up front to deal with the west coast teams over a 7 game series imo. They would wear us down the way LA wears teams down. We are very fast and hard working but taking the hits and rubs would take it's toll over time. So really like what we are developing for the base of this team, give us 3 years to bring in some size and watch out!

Yeah, what he should have said was: when they impose their will, they can control the game with their size.

In the third, the Flames showed that when they impose their will, they can control the game with speed and skill.

Good teams can take over games and impose their will. But no team can do it forever. And great teams can turn games around and impose their will, even when being dominated prior.

For an official flagship radio station of an NHL team, that's an absolutely wretched morning show.

Flip side to that is Montreal and Boston.

Everyone always thinks Boston will walk over them, but Montreal just skates around them.

That's true, don't know why but true. They just simply have their number!

I have to agree lately...I used to defend him but Boomer has become beyond arrogant. There are a lot of days on my 40 minute drive to work that I hear less than 5 minutes of actual sports talk....good thing Huff likes early interviews so I have that at least. They can beat a dead horse...to death!

Disagree. I live nowhere near Calgary and I listen via podcast. It's great.

I'm not sure it says much. We beat the Kings last year and they didn't need anything else

I also listen online, and I think Boomer is funny as hell. (It comes on in the afternoon, and I listen on my phone wile walking home from work). If you have ever lived in another Canadian city, one quickly gains an appreciation for the morning show. "Brother Jake" and David Pratt are presently headlining on TSN 1040 in Vancouver, and they are practically unbearable. Not smart. Not insightful. Not funny. There is just nothing of any value there.

In the regular season it's not as important, but if they're in a 7 game series against an Anaheim, LA, San Jose, St. Louis... etc, they'll need some size or they'll get run over.

Agreed. My point was rhetorical, and meant to show that there is more than one way to win. I still think this team is too small, but I'm at a point right now where I am not sure how much this will hold them back.

I love the way things are going and very happy with our forward depth and prospect pool. I like our top 4 defence and understand the role of Smid and Engelland but really feel that we need to shore up our defence pool. If we ever got a couple of injuries back there then we would be floundering. Looking for some moves to bring in some depth

I don't think their size will hold them back much. It would on the playoffs perhaps, but not the regular season. It holds you back of you try to engage in the physical battle, but your fine if you ignore it in the regular season

I love the back and forth bickering between Boomer/Rhett and sometimes Pinder.

Yesterday they were talking about Connecticut women's hoops and Boomer goes "The Connecticut Women have not lost in 46 games" and someone interrupts and add "that's an odd name Connecticut Women" it was just perfectly timed and made me laugh out loud.

I like them. Kind of sucks when they talk about sports but luckily thats only about 1 minute per hour. The Friedman, Brunt and Duhatschek interviews are always great.

Don't know if this has been mentioned but Corey Perry and Getzlaf were both a -3.

You don't see that often from 2 elite players.

Edit: And Granlund was a +3.

It was funny watching Diaz play last night. With Smid and Engelland, you know what you're going to get defensively. But with Diaz, he has the mobility of a guy like Gio and Russell (Brodie is in a class of his own), but clearly not the same level of hockey sense/acumen. Interesting to watch the difference.

Wotherspoon fills one top-six; could probably slot him in a top-four in a pinch. Could probably use a second guy at some point unless you're willing to bring up Potter or perhaps give Sieloff a tryout.
