Saw it for a 2nd time with my parents, loved it again.
The only thing that bugged me is when Groot rips the battery out in the battery and lets out a huge "I AM GROOOOOT", the animators clearly just thought he was supposed to be yelling "AAAAAAAH".
The Quest stands upon the edge of a knife. Stray but a little, and it will fail, to the ruin of all. Yet hope remains while the Company is true. Go Flames Go!
Disney really dropped the ball on this. How can they feature a scene of a dancing baby Groot and NOT have a toy ready? Xmas might be too far away when movie debuted in early Aug
Saw this last night, what an awesome movie. Fully impressed with the pacing, characters, humor, action, etc.
Star Lord was an awesome character. Surviving through it all as a human with some tech. I took a girl that isn't into comics or anything and she enjoyed it completely.
I did it! And it only cost me $9 for all the materials & equipment and I've been ridiculously happy for days on end whenever I pop it in. The real question is...what's on Starlord's Side B? The tracks from the movie only take up one side of the tape!

How sour are your grapes?
Came to this thread after seeing the movie. Kind of dumbfounded as I pretty much share the sentiment of Green Lantern, finished watching and thought "well that was stupid". Wondering if I was just missing something. I even paused and left for a few hours to do other stuff around the house.... maybe too high expectations? I thought it was supposed to be an Avengers-esque film.
edit - enjoyed groot
didnt really follow all the characters that well, maybe it would have helped knowing some background, but.... others said they didn't in this threaddand still loved it...shrug

There's no background needed for the characters. The background in the comics varies and it's quite different in many ways.
It's a great theatre film. It's a space adventure like Star Wars with a more modern take and awesome soundtrack. Maybe it doesn't translate well to watching at home. I find Star Wars and the Avengers to be pretty boring to watch at home.
I still rate it as the 2nd best Marvel film so far, with Iron Man as number 1.
