While other players like Forsberg, Drouin and Pearson look great IMO it will take an incredible performance by someone else to beat Gaudreau if he plays 65 more games this season.

This kid looks better than good...it's special

Calgary is feeding off of JG. it really is exciting. I have not been this excited about a player since Iginla. Thats tough for me to say. JG is a player.

Seems CHL leagues play less than 72, cause most players end up playing only 50-60 of those games. Not much more than these kids in college.

Regardless, Gaudreau continued to tear it up in the frozen four then at the WCs after his season and didn't lose a step. Of all the things that have failed to stop him, I doubt 30 extra games would finally be the thing to do it.

People here need to learn to stop doubting this kid. He does nothing but make your lot look stupid.

Who the hell is doubting him?? Your calling an imaginary bunch of people stupid.

People are simply discussing normal barriers he may face, like more games. He'll be in the running for Calder for sure. I think he takes it easily

Clearly not you, so I don't know why you bothered to reply. There are doubters here still, though.

Maybe at the start of the season, but I don't think there are any more.

I'm more concerned about how the Flames will do against teams like the Sharks, Ducks, and Kings.
Not Gaudreau though. Johnny will be Johnny.

He might get a little less space and time, but he'll adapt. He's been adapting all his life against tougher & tougher competition. You know Johnny... the kid can stick handle in a telephone booth.

Trouble is that Forsberg plays in the eastern time zone. Johnny plays out here.

As we all know the east doesn't like to stay up late to watch hockey. I suspect he is on the ballot. If all things stay the same Forsberg wins.

Johnny will get nominated but Forsberg is going to be his main competition all season.

I haven't watched Forsberg -- how many of his points have been "highlight reel" worthy? I think that'll be the difference between JH and anyone else -- it's one thing to score points but it's another to pull off the kind of plays Johnny has already done thus far...

Drouin? If he gets it together, he'll still be in the conversation. Not that he's been awful for a rookie, just not Calder worthy, yet.

Forsberg seems to be a lot of "right place, right time" work rebounds and passes to Neal in just the right place. That is a skill all by itself, but may mean luck too

Forsberg is for real. He may cool off a bit, but the kid always had high end potential. Assuming he stays healthy, he'll finish with the year with 50+ points, for sure.

If nothing else, at least JG was retired to the TSN 1v1 Hall of Fame.

Haven't seen a single one. I've seen a lot of people point out obstacles or tests to face. If they didn't we'd be guilty of Oilers-like fanboyism.

It'd be good if Johnny gets a few more goals like the wraparound (or the near miss where he busted through the defence) - his assists are fantastic (and almost always first assists and not cheap seconds), but sportswriters like goalscorers.
