Default Will Gaudreau win the Calder?

Currently tied for 2nd in rookie scoring (2 points after 1 period tonight), one of the hottest players in the league, 8 points in his last 7 GP after being healthy scratched.

Wouldn't mind a poll either

1. Yes
2. No
3. Nominated but falls short.

Also shoutout to Jooris for making this list!

Too soon. We should wait until after Christmas to see how things are unfolding. By that time we'll be able to say yes with more certainty.

Should use the rookie watch thread for this type of discussion, imo.

If he continues his play from the last 8 games, he's got a shot. There has been lots of hype from the media around him all year as well, which I think is key

Definitely has a shot. Bit to early to tell but obviously if he keeps progressing the way he has he will be in the conversation.

I still hang onto the slight hope that Josh Jooris stuns the hockey world and wins the Calder.

If he plays at this level throughout the season, he'll be nominated for sure.
I think Drouin will win it though.

The skies the limit for this kid. The confidence he oozes on the ice and his uncanny ability to make plays should get him some serious consideration.

mackinnon had a slow start last year and finished the season strong, I could see gaudreau following a similar path. the door is wide open this year though, no clear favorite.
