Any reports I've read, from people who've watched the games, are saying Sven is playing well, getting chances etc, just snake bitten. Can't judge a player by stat line alone. Paul Byron is having a good season, lots of chances, just can't seem to buy a goal. I'd say Sven has been similar on the farm.

Snake bitten in the AHL is a lot more concerning than being snake bitten in the NHL.

If Sven isn't on the callup list before Jooris, Granlund and Ferland at this point in his development, with the team in dire straights, its pretty obvious he's quickly falling off the teams map.
|
Backlund, Stajan and Colborne at center. Raymond has been playing right-wing. Am I missing something?
As far as the guys who got called up before Sven I don't find it concerning at all. Jooris is playing well in a bottom-6 role, which Baertschi isn't suited for. Granlund and Ferland are both putting up really good numbers in the AHL right now, and deserved to be called up before Sven. If we go the entire season without seeing Baertschi I'll be concerned, but right now this feels similar to when people were complaining about there not being enough room for the kids on the roster when only Gaudreau made the opening night line-up. There's still a lot of season to go.

Meh. It's 9 games, no reason to get all that worried about it to be honest. I know how hysterical some can get but yeah, 9 games. If he had zero goals and was pouting and playing awful I'd be upset, but from all reports, he is playing well, getting chances. If he keeps that up, the numbers will come.

Snake bites are difficult to deal with in adirondack or in Calgary.

If that's the case he would likely be gone for 6-8 weeks.

Well, they still had a point didn't they? "Always earned, never given". Now, how many people would read that as "if you do well in pre-season, you will get a roster spot for the Vancouver game?". Because I did. And whilst I wasn't in hysterics, I was pretty annoyed that Seto and Jones went ahead and got the spots anyway.
Now, clearly the staff meant "If you do well in pre-season, you'll be the first one we call on when injuries occur". But they didn't contextualise their comments, leaving some to assume the first point of view was what they meant and when they seemingly went back on their word, people got annoyed. That to me seems fair enough, the Flames management should be a little clearer with their soundbites in the future. I mean, they are good at managing a hockey team, but did they consider the ramifications of their comments on the CP community? I don't think so. Shocking really.
In all seriousness, pleased for Ferland and Granlund, hopefully both can make the same impact Jooris has.

That's exactly what I meant by the comment. Surely those who were upset can now see that it wasn't a big deal

Ok Hiller/Rama.
I see your god mode tending, and raise you a rash of injuries up center. Your move.
I hate tanking, but I really won't mind if we drop to a better draft position due to honest injury.
Also hate to hear injury to Backs, but to be honest he seemed IMO to be struggling a little to find his form from last season. This might answer that.

Stamkos: two rocket richard trophies, Drew Doughty: two stanley cups
Ovechkin: four rocket richard trophies, one art ross trophy, three hart memorial trophies, calder trophy
Malkin: two art ross trophies, one hart memorial trophy, calder trophy, one stanley cup and one conn smythe.
Hardware definitely goes to the ovy/malkin side

Sven had a play yesterday where he received a pass across that was flat on the ice all the way till it skipped about 2 feet from his stick. If it remained flat he would've scored an easy goal that would've been a tap in. There was a couple of similar level of chance that just seemed to screw up for him in the game yesterday.
Just terrible puck luck

It's definitely debatable, but I prefer the 2008 draft by quite a bit. I'm a huge Doughty fan though, so maybe I'm a bit biased.

I thought Backlund was really laboring last game, he looked like he was skating in slow motion at times. Obviously for the best to have him shut it down and heal up, no point in letting the injury linger when he's been somewhat ineffective in trying to play through it.

At best Doughty is definitely second there.
Malkin and Stamkos are close though

Man, we've just been decimated without Backlund, Colborne, Stajan and Raymond. Gonna get really interesting, but look at the last two times we've given the kids the wheel (after the trade deadline)...they've gone out and won games.
I hope these kids run on pure adrenaline in the first couple games and make things happen out there. We'll need them. I also really hope they score some goals tomorrow as I'm taking a lady friend who rarely goes, and I'd like her to see a good on ice product out there lol. So please make a good impression, boys.
