If he's the person described here, I can see why the CBC cut him loose. He's obviously trying to frame the situation being about his taboo bedroom antics, when its his over the line persistence that's the issue.

I don't think it's any secret that I think Jian Ghomeshi is one of the best (if not the best) interviewer I've ever had the pleasure of listening to. His show was unbelievably good. He was well researched, well written, genuine, personable and could get a good interview out of anyone (except Billy Bob Thorton).

I was shocked to hear about his firing from CBC, but wasn't shocked about the content of his subsequent statement. I heard somewhere a few years ago that he wanted to sleep with any and every woman with large, shall we say… 'personalities'.

But to each their own.

And I honestly believe that.

IF, what Jian Ghomeshi's statement says is true, and I do mean IF as we've only heard his version of events, then who cares what he's into in the bedroom. Whether he's into BSDM, 20-something girls, old men, or clowns… who cares? If it's amongst consenting adults, in the privacy of the bedroom, and it doesn't affect his work, have at 'er.

But let's be careful.

Remember, Jian Ghomeshi hired a top crisis management PR firm; he hired a top tier law firm; he's made a seemingly outrageous damages claim (likely as a PR move rather than looking for accurate legal compensation); and he's one of the nation's top journalists who specializes in writing narratives.

The CBC wouldn't let one of their top money makers go without justification. Especially after losing its overall top money maker ever, Hockey Night in Canada the very same year.

If it was just a bedroom issue, then why keep Sook Yin-Lee and fire Ghomeshi?

If it was an offensive thing, then why keep Don Cherry but fire Ghomeshi?

There seems to be much more to this story, assuming the CBC didn't just catch a case of the stupids this past week.

I'm interested to see what FACTS come out, I'll leave the speculation out for now.

I still need to decide whether it's fair to cheer or boo, this is Q.

Did a little searching and found this from G&M commenting on the episode.

Isn't everybody into 20-something women? They're kind of the archetype of female beauty and sexuality in our culture. I would have thought if there was a sex-draft with guys of all ages picking, "20 something women" would be at the top of everyone's list. I don't see anything surprising about a mid forties single guy who wants sex but doesn't want a relationship seeking out women in that particular age bracket. Hell, that's actually about the only age bracket you'll find women who only want a sexual relationship.

In any event, the age thing seems less weird than hunting down any member of the opposite sex who'll let you beat her sexually with a warm squash until she says "parakeet." That's a whole different debate.

Consenual sex between adults is fine. Creepily harassing women isn't.

I'm a single guy in my 20s. I like to go out and socialise. If the woman ain't into me I'll move on. I will definitely not grab her ass, send her offensive texts, and just generally be a creep.

It'll be interesting to see how many more of these stories of harassment come out in the coming weeks. Assuming that xojane story was indeed about Ghomeshi

I didn't realize he had so many fans, I always found him watered down and unimaginative in his questions, like he didn't get the best out of his interviews. I kind of thought he was plain and uninteresting.... But now this!!!.

That's the danger with taking the early offensive: alliances start to form against you and no one has sympathy when you get nuked. Although he must have foreseen this.

Mind you, it's entirely possible he's got a masochistic side, so they could be playing into his hands.
