For sure. As far as unboxing vids go, that was unique.

The Z2 had one of the best drop testing scores in the last cycle of releases. The Z3 has by all accounts improved on the success of the Z2 in terms of durability.

I actually thought the same as you before I researched the phones. I mean it makes perfect logical sense right? Glass back and glass front = frail little phone. But it isn't.

Or you could not drop your phone.

Or get a low profile case, like an Incipio, Moshi or PureGear slim shell.

Why is Sony stuck in the past with a 1080p screen?

Literally everything about the phone is appealing except the resolution. Esp for a 5.2".

I wonder if it's to improve battery life? I don't know if it has an affect on that or not, but the Xperia phones have insane battery life relative to the competition so maybe that's why.

I assume it would be pretty marginal, because regardless of pixel-count, a screen of equal size/luminosity would have identical power draw.

The only thing I could think of is a slight draw of increased power from the CPU/GPU/APU to push more pixels, but this would be negligible to the tune of increments of a percent for all usage outside of gaming.

I have a Z2 and my only problem is that the camera isn't very responsive.
Also when making videos it loses the focus a lot.
The wifi antenna gave me issues for a bit too.

Other than that, pretty happy with it.

I would bet it has a bit to do with the PS4 remote play feature? Might complicate things if your phone has a higher resolution than your TV? I could be wrong though.

I too will be getting this phone. I was going to get the compact, went to a Bell store and compared the full-sized Z2 with my phone and it wasn't too much bigger, I think I'm going to stretch my comfort zone and go with the larger brother.

This phone seems like a good all around phone, may not be the best in any facet (except battery life which is HUGE on my list), but it does everything well.

It'll be interesting to see how much we use the waterproof feature. It could be that it comes in handy 0 times; however, I already plan on swimming with it at the lake and if it ever gets dirty, I'll just wash it under the tap. Right now whenever I go to the lake, I put my phone in a ziploc bag. I think it's negligent of other manufacturers to be putting out non waterproof phones at this point.

I have the Z2 and the One+ One and kind of go back and forth between the two. Haven't decided a clear winner yet because I really like both if them. What are the main differences between the Z2 and Z3

1p1 has a bigger screen 5.5 inches versus 5.2 inches for the sony, bottom facing mono speakers.
Sony has front facing stereo speakers (probably the second best on the market behind the HTC one M8 but thats before hearing the Nexus 6's speakers)

1p1 has 16 or 64 gb memory options with no memory slot while the sony comes in 16 or 32 gb memory with a micro SD slot to expand storage.

Both have the same guts , same amount of RAM (3GB).

Sony has a 20 mp camera (2.2 mp in the front) while 1p1 has a 13 mp camera (5 mp in the front).

90% glass body for the sony, replaceable back casing for the 1p1.

3100 mah battery for both. close call between the two on which uses less during a charge though.

I wont chime in on the software but I think both are close to sock android with Cyanogen being the more open and more customizable of the two.

EDIT: and the obvious non-contract price differences. $350 for the 64 gb 1p1 and $700 off contract for the Z3.

Love the look of the compact. Seems like everyone loves huge phones now, but my Nexus 5 is about as big as I want to go. If for some reason, my Nexus 5 goes kaput I would definitely consider the compact.

Thanks for the Comparative. Looks awesome but not enough difference for me to upgrade from the Z2 especially at that off contract price. I was lucky enough to get this Z2 for an amazing price so I'll probably just hang onto it for now.

Picked up a copper Z3 from Rogers today. Very happy with it so far. Coming from ios, I love the customization of Android. Nice large screen and great sound. Very nice phone.

I picked mine up from Telus today, too. They were only carrying black (I prefer white, but whatever). I've been too busy at work to play with it much, but I'm super stoked coming from my S3.

Telus didn't have any cases, but my wife picked one up for me at the Sony Store in Chinook - apparently they have a few choices. Should be ready to rock for tonight! I really can't wait to test out this 2-day battery...

Picked my Z3 up today, so far it seems like a pretty slick phone. I did spring for full sized just because I got screen greedy at the last minute.

So far I'm impressed with the SQ when hooked up to my Phonak headphones, it blows away my S2 and is pretty comparable to my old Ipod + iBasso D3 amp.

Only annoyance so far is that it has a mag charger on the side which looks sweet, but doesn't come with it in the box. Which wouldn't be such an annoyance if I didn't have to remove the waterproof cap to get to the micro usb charging port.

Basically it means I will be buying that mag charging unit ASAP.

I grabbed one today from Bell. Coming from a Nexus 4 and I love this baby. So slick, perfect size... Just a brilliant device!
