We won't be seeing McGrattan much

Not quite the season story we were expecting, but Hartley is sure looking like the best hockey move Feaster has ever made.
Cup empty : 2nd in the league for losses

(way too early to analyze)

Somewhat lost in the excellence of guys like Brodie, Giordano, Gaudreau, Monahan, etc., is the play of Kris Russell. I think he's such a pimp out there, making all the right plays, very few mistakes, and came away with a couple assists last night. Great player.

The Carolina Hurricanes are awful, and a team that the Flames should beat. But there are still a couple important things to take from this game.

First, this was a team that the Flames needed to beat, and they did so, but perhaps more importantly, the Flames were dominant, and I'm not sure that I would expect that type of manhandling from a bottom-five team in the league.

Second, the Flames are not a playoff team. However, I think it has to be pretty clear by now that they are a better team than most people imagined they would be this year. Last night's game only helped to confirm that they will be hard pressed to finish much lower than 25th.

Russel has been great since the first day he laced up his skates for the team. If our top 4 all play to their potential, and they certainly look good so far, then we have a pretty formidable top 4. Just need to make sure our bottom pairing stabilizes themselves.

For 7pm games it's usually pretty empty. 7:30 is probably 1/4 full at usually full for 8pm games. It's not that people don't care, it's that early games are tough to make on time.

What kind of maroon tucks his jeans into his boots. I tell you, only two people do that, members of an 80's hair metal band, and strippers named candi or tiffini or any name that ends with an I.

Come on Ovie that's embarrassing.

Absolutely amazing!
Granted, Hiller wasn't exactly overworked tonight, but 99 saves out of the last 101 shots??? Outstanding!

With the Flames having two very solid goaltenders putting up incredible numbers, what should be a slow, difficult-to-watch rebuild, has instead transformed into something more exciting and interesting to watch... A developing team that has complete confidence in their keepers, thereby allowing them to fully develop their game and maximize their potential.

Right now, the Hiller signing looks like it may be one of the top, if not THE top, free agent signing of the summer. Ramo's been great too, but having a tandem like this is something that Flames fans haven't experienced.... well, ever?
Probably the best tandem since Lemelin and Riggin. Very promising, but it is still early days.

Maybe wishful thinking, but the way they are moving their feet and playing defensively in general over the last couple games, makes me think the shot differential will start balancing out.

Makes you wonder how hard a toll the flu took on the team over the previous couple weeks.

I think it's really cool that Ovechkin is embracing the 'western' theme here. Dude came prepared, seems like he's excited to be here in Cowtown.

It looks like his jeans may be too tight to get over his boots.
