That's the main Sunni mosque in Calgary. All the times I've been there, they have preached a peaceful version of Islam. The imams there never talk about politics or fighting in the name of Islam.
I'd be very shocked if he was radicalized there.

I am really quite saddened and angered about all of this. Sad for the victim and his family. I wish we had a solution to stuff like this.

Apparently they threw him out due to his radical beliefs

Muslims need to start standing up against radicalism! What, what? They have been, I just didn't read articles about it?

Oh I have no doubt he wants no part of all the attention being thrown his way, but I'm glad that it's him drawing that attention and not the piece of #### murderer who should remain nameless

Amazing if true that he was kicked out of the Mosque.
I wonder if he was reported to the federal government intelligence services/RCMP, and whether he had his passport revoked in part due to that.

was just talking to a friend in Moncton, and he was telling me that a New Brunswick MP was praising Vickers on the local news, but gave him the gears about liking Alpine beer. Guess Vickers is "just a guy from the Miramichi", which is very Canadian. I'll buy him an Alpine.

ISIS is classified as a terrorist organization by the government, no? I know there are laws against funding such groups, but would there be criminal laws against joining or participating?

The Bruins held a moment of silence before tonight's game in Boston, and are playing both anthems.

To sum up the presser, CPS are looking for people he may have been associated with here, and what he was doing while he was in Calgary. The chief cautions against assuming all Muslims are radicals.

I think a lot of the people involved in this (minus one of course) are serious bad asses and feel they acted as all Canadians should. The story of the nurse and lawyer are heart wrenching but awesome all at once. No hesitation, went right to where they were needed and did their best help save a life without regard for their safety.
All of them, Vickers, Winters, Lerhe and the others simply stating it was a team of people doing what needed to be done.

Actually I was wrong, listening to a defense lawyer on the news today, in Canada its a very serious crime to go overseas to participate in terrorist activities.
Affiliating with them in Canada is also considered to be criminal.
