Wait, who did we bring in to contribute offense again?

This is the main point....

I don't think one(realistic) person is upset that Johnny may sit a game. Who really thought he'd play over 75 games games this year...

The healthly "scratch" while Jooris gets the line that many have asked for is what is truely making people "scratch" their head.

It'll be good to sit. Let him analyse things from the press box and think about how to be effective at this level

Kent Wilson gives off the impression of a slightly more cultured ricardo, which is why several posters have stopped taking his hockey analytics seriously.

Yeah Monahan was not healthy scratched once. He missed a few games with a leg injury.

The lines are actually a game time decision yet. A couple players still hit with the flu apparently. I hope Johnny slides back in and kills it tonight.

Don't really get Hartley but I'll guess he'll get the team some wins. I guess that's all that matters.

Good news for our 2 top LW prospects. Going well for them.

Even though Gaudreau has great possession numbers, it is obvious he can be so much better. This season is about teaching, almost as much as winning. I don't think its about criticising Gaudreau... as long as he learns from the experience, it is worthwhile.

I honestly have no idea. I just know there's a channel called Sportsnet Flames, haha.

I think it's (SN Flames) technically considered the Sportsnet One channel, at least that's what I recall it correlating to last year.

You don't have to pay for SNFlames I don't think. SN Flames, Oilers, Canucks, Jets are just channels reserved for the respective teams games when they can't be shown on the main SN channels.

Just want to make sure im reading everything right in this thread of the angry Johnny fans.

Edmonton rushes players into situations and the team flounders, development becomes stagnant and guys like RNH and Hall spend a lot of time on the IR.

Calgary decides that mistake was made with sven and instead starts sheltering rookies and allows them to develop in rolls they can handle and the same Calgary fans who call Edmonton management stupid for rushing call Calgary management stupid for sheltering. Brodie was sheltered for 2 years while Butler played in a roll way over his head and it pissed everyone off, however it gave us the Brodie we have today and im glad he was sheltered unlike Schultz.

Johnny is used to playing 1 game a week and heading home to his own bed and surroundings. This is his first real road trip and I am certain he is struggling like many rookies do to get used to the NHL professional schedule. If he does sit today I am 100% confident that it is in his best interest. Its 5 games into the season I think we can let it breathe a bit.

It's used when there's conflicting national programming to be shown on SNW when a regional Flames game is also to be shown. This would have been the case tonight if the baseball series weren't concluded. SN Flames is included with any TV package that has SNW.

Hilarious. The line that many have asked for? So what? Who are we or anybody to ''ask'' for this supposed line to be put together? It's coaches call, period. Not the fans. Not CP's. Not even the GM's. People are upset that Jooris get's top 6 minutes while Gaudreau's have dwindled the last couple games? Suck it up. Not our decision to make and everyone better get used to not getting their way when it comes to lines.

As others have said, Johnny's been playing more hockey then he's ever been used to. And don't forget practices. I have no idea how they practice in the NCAA, but Hartley is well known for his intense game-like sessions. 3 to 4 games per week + practices=hard intense hockey on an undersized rookie trying to find his way in the best league in the universe. Joris is 24 and this is his 2nd year pro. He's used to the game schedule and probably knows the system better as he was with the Heat last season. I have no problem with him slotting in the top 6. Gaudreau is still feeling it out. He has exactly ONE shot that came in the very first game of the season, and none since. Yet people want to hand him top 6 minutes? I doubt putting him with better players would solve anything at this point. If Johnny want to move up, he has to produce or he's better off playing in the AHL until he is ready. I was one of those guys we said he would be better off in the AHL but so many people were so quick to judge him based on his NCAA and WC games and hand him top 6 minutes. I think we can all see now that maybe that might be jumping the gun a little.

Corsi numbers only tell part of the story. It's an efficiency rating, which is good, but it is without context to the player's overall abilities.

For example, Backlund is basically awesome according to corsi numbers. That's a good thing. However, you have to be comparing him with like to like. He does not have the raw offensive skill, namely his shot is below average, to be able to score 60+ points regardless of how much ice time he gets. At that rate, it would actually be better to have someone in those top two positions that while they might not be as efficient as Backlund, they can contribute more offense than Backlund. If you're comparing what he should be considered (3rd line C), then he's probably the best one in the entire league.

There is no context with corsi by itself. That has to be provided by the person watching and having an understanding of the game and players' relative abilities. It's just a good metric for saying "this 4th line guy is one of the top or one of the worst 4th line guys in the league", you have to have the ability to put in the qualifiers of what that actually means.
