I thought Jones was injured during the buyout window (surprise), so we wouldn't have been able to buy him out regardless.

Yes, it would, but I'm not sure that the best way to acclimatize Gaudreau to the NHL is to play him at a new position.

I'm always a little amused when people refer to the Flames in the first person, like they were actually part of the team. But it really does sound silly when it pertains to matters of the team budget, as if that really is your money that you can just so casually hurl in David Jones' direction.

Very surprised Ramo isn't starting after a great game in Edmonton. Not that Hiller was at fault for the loss in Vancouver but I thought the plan was to ride the hot hand.
Jones injured after 1 game is comical. He didn't even take a big hit or anything on Thursday, from what I saw, but it works out nicely. Keeps his salary on the payroll but don't have to dress him.
Hudler out really hurts, and nothing short of a perfect game from the Flames or a horrible game from the Blues will likely result in a win.
It'll be interesting to see how Wideman responds to his benching and if Setoguchi can be remotely effective in his first game.
My favorite part of the evening (besides a Flames win) will be reading HFOilers during the Oilers/Vancouver game. Oiler pain makes me feel all warm inside.

Better him in the pressbox than Baertschi or Granlund though.

C'mon guy, everybody does this. Of course it's not our money but I feel having an emotional attachment to the team is reason enough to call it "our" team. I would think the Flames would love it that the whole city feels like it's their team too. It's called being a fan.

Yes, Gaudreau-Backlund-Byron! Should be a good possession line.

Bash Bouwmeester all you want, and I too was in that club, but unfortunately after going to St. Louis, he kinda proved he wasn't the problem here, it was his utilization, and the players surrounding him.

I figured that out after watching him play under Hartley vs Brent Sutter.

Are Steen and Oshie really top line players? People always say the Blues are stacked, and they have some crazy good youngsters (Tarasenko, Schwartz). I'd say they're deep up front with talent, but their top end isn't as high as others in the west.

How has he proved anything? He went to St. Louis and has 12 playoff games under his belt and a lousy 2 assists after scoring at nearly a .5 ppg pace there in the regular season.
I am glad he is off the team.

Bouwmester is a good defenceman and I'm sure all 30 general managers would be happy to have a smooth skating defenceman like Bouwmester on their team.

I avoid this also but I understand it. The success of pro sports is their ability to foster this mode of thinking.

He was fine here after B.Sutter left and Hartley took over. Just not a good fit with Sutter.

Offensively he was better, defensively he was the same or worse.
