Yeah I would have preferred Gaudreau to have Backlund as his center and a better goal scorer on his right wing. I have a feeling Gaudreau's great passing will be wasted on Colborne and Byron.

Hopefully the first PP unit is:

Gaudreau Monahan Hudler
Giordano Russell/Brodie

Yeah I was hoping to see Gaudreau-Monahan-Hudler to start. Monahan standing in front of the net while the two wizards mystify their competition. Colborne is the opposite of Gaudreau and their styles contrast quite badly, Colborne seems to be purely a north south player that is not very good at making quick decisions or passes.

I'm going to try and watch this because apparently I'm a glutton for punishment and I hate myself.

Do they usually have press conferences for the opening night line up? Seems a bit odd.

I don't know why everyone expected Bollig, McGratton, and Bouma to all be on the same line. The toughness they bring to the roster is squandered if they're all on the same line and they play 9 minutes. Spread the beef round. Roll four lines.

Press needs to write their stories with quotes from upper management

I would have liked to have seen Backlund centering Gaudreau and Byron. Three guys with high hockey IQ, quickness and playmaking skills. I bet they would just whip the puck around to each other.

Colborne can lumber around with Raymond and Bouma.

Backlund or Monahan would have been my center choices for Gaudreau. Oh well, I expect these lines are likely very temporary.

Those lines won't stay intact when we're down 1-0 or 2-0 after 2 periods to Vancouver.

Do you think they will be able to penetrate the offensive zone?

I expect this is a very important time for Bouma. This may be his only chance to prove he can do more while others are waiting for their chance to take his place. Hes a good player but Ferland could probably offer a lot more. Bouma doesn't really bang that much. He blocks a ton of shots and does a lot of things well but will be replaced by Ferland before the year is out...

Ferland is going to be on this team this year. I guarantee it. Who else is going to give up a spot for him?

Does it speak to the teams intent that Bennett doesn't have his own stall yet?
