Good. I know on paper Colborne looks like should make a great center, but the guy is just much more effective on the wing. We have enough Centers anyway...there's really no need to force it.

They look at trends and the earning potential of their clients. Holding a player back in the minors hurts their earning potential and is a situation to be avoided.

Erixon avoided the Flames because Sven Baertschi isn't quite NHL ready?
I'm glad to see that this thread has moved from pure emotional response to bizarre conjecture.

Regarding those suggesting that being patient with prospect development will hurt the chances of the Flames attracting future prospects...that's just plain nonsense. Any player or agent with a brain in his head knows all too well what happens when a player gets rushed to the NHL before they're ready. One of two things: 1) They crash and burn, or 2) They have 1-2successful seasons then regress because their game never developed beyond a single dimension. You need only look at our very own Devin Setoguchi to see a prime example of this...the guy had loads of talent but was rushed to the NHL and now is trying to piece together a crumbling career because he wasn't given time as a prospect to develop a well-rounded game. Imagine if Setoguchi had developed a top-notch defensive game and a never-say-die work ethic? Had the goals dried up (as they did), his size and speed would have still been very useful at the NHL level. Instead, he's now trying to recapture lightning in a bottle (another 30 goal season) when he SHOULD be learning how to backcheck and kill penalties. Setoguchi is just one of countless example of this...

Yeah, Colborne being put back at center seemed to come from above Hartley, looked like Treliving wanted to see what he had there. Much better on the wing though, his game is just much better suited to it.
Hopefully Bennett is returned to junior when he is deemed healthy, love his game but needs another year in junior, which was expected.

I don't think that's what happened with Setoguchi at all. He was ready when he was ready, it's the San Jose Sharks, they're a competitive team.
He peaked early and declined early, wasn't the first or the last guy to have his most productive seasons in his early 20s.

Byron-Stajan-Setoguchi
Gaudreau-Stajan-Jones is more likely. Hopefully Gaudreau-Stajan-Ferland by end of season.
Hudler will get dealt for picks this season to ensure McDavid changes are high.
Serious log jam at LW, Centre getting there too.

Flames needed a big strong skilled RW.
Same fit for Granlund?

It's also nice to have another guy that can take draws - especially with the anticipated increase in the number of defensive zone starts Colborne and Monahan will see this season.

Agreed. It never hurt 80's Flames. Those teams were a b***h to get on.

Glad to see jones on the sidelines. Hartley seeing a bit of what we've been seeing.

Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
without a doubt should be our second line if Joe is going back to the wing.

Oh please, the Sharks set this guy up for failure. It wasn't intentional, they just didn't handle him with the patience he needed. It's a difficult road when your introduction to the NHL is on Joe Thornton's wing and you spend the rest of your NHL career trying to figure out why the puck isn't finding your blade anymore. The old saying, "when all you have is a hammer, every problem looks like a nail." Well, in Setoguchi's case, all he has is a good shot -- will just keep shooting.

And to STAY on! You want your young players to show up every night? Make a demotion a very very real possibility. Baertschi, I hope, will be a better player for exactly that reason.

LOL I'm really enjoying the fact that people keep quoting the "Always earned, never given" statement from Hartley, and then calling management liars within five games of PRE-season. That's 5 our of 87 games, or 6%. Who earns anything within 6% of completion? Who even hits 6% of the achievements in a video game like NHL 15, where you have all the advantages in the world? Hell, even in a video game you gotta play 5-10 games in the regular season in the minors before you get a sniff of the 4th line on the NHL roster. And that's with logging 50 mins a game lol.

You're not going to change anyone's mind because your opinion is dumb. Tom Erixon is a terrible example to use because 5 years, and 3 teams after he was drafted he still hasn't earned a full time NHL spot.

Oh please? You made a narrative and are doing mental gymnastics with facts to help that narrative when the facts (ie, Setoguchi's career) don't really support what you're trying to say... at all.

Think Colborne assisted on both his first NHL goal vs Vancouver and his first goal at the Dome too. If it ain't broke....
