Her putting this on the internet and now not calling off the dogs after clearly seeing this get out of hand puts her in my bad books ahead of the guy.

Why fuel the fire? I'm willing to bet a similar incident happens in public transit every day in North America. It happened, nobody got hurt, move on.

In the past I've stepped into a confrontation like this and told a party to settle down or GTFO in one case but I can't say based on the evidence that I would have supported either party if I was in that bus.

His only problem was taking up 2 seats and not giving up one when asked. Any other justification for the shaming is pure sexist BS and has no place in this day and age.
Weve all ran into the guy on the bus who sits on the outside seat just daring someone to ask him to move so both seats can be occupied

A jerk move for sure, but confronting the guy would just inflame the situation. No real point to it.
The only reason to confront a person is in cases of violence (or imminent violence). Or I guess incidents like where that creep was caressing that girls hair on the CTrain last year. But you know what I mean. Serious stuff. As was mentioned, some people are just jerks. But there's lots of them around, can't really change them by yelling at them. All your really going to do is start a fight. You run the risk of taking a slightly bad situation and making it much much worse, even dangerous.

What?
"The only thing he did wrong was do something wrong, but people aren't mad at him for that, they are sexist against men".
Is that what you are trying to say?

This one has gone viral via social media and the chances are much greater that someone finds out who he is and tries to excat some vigilanty justice.

Dude is clearly looking for attention in that bizarre outfit. Well, he got it - maybe not in the way he hoped for (although what he is hoping for with that also escapes me), but attention he now has. People are petty and judgmental - myself included - and so it goes.

He's back!
http://news.nationalpost.com/2015/02...der-behaviour/
“The bus driver tried to tell the guy ‘it’s full, you can’t get on so take your bike off the rack and catch the next bus’—that kind of thing,” said Ms. Ward.
Instead, the man stubbornly sat on the bike rack to prevent the departure of the bus, and demanded a TTC supervisor.
“That’s when people started getting off the bus to get on the next bus, which was right behind us,” said Ms. Ward. Ignoring the insults of restless commuters, the wool-capped man strode onto the rapidly emptying bus and sat down.
Until the arrival of police, the bus sat completely empty, save for the wool-capped man, the bus driver and Ms. Ward, who stayed to act as a witness.
After a tense police encounter in which the wool-capped man repeatedly demanded the officer’s badge numbers and recorded their encounter via cell phone, he was arrested and removed from the bus.
Ms. Ward said that as the wool-capped man awaited the arrival of police on the empty 72 Pape bus on Friday, he boasted that he was “famous” — an apparent reference to his status as the unnamed Leprechaun.
“He was really proud of it,” she said.

Too bad TTC doesn't have the same fine we do here for interfering with transit service (up to $5,000).

Ahh remember that day just last week when we gave all that attention and money to erasing the stigma around mental illnesses? Good times those were.

You don't have to be mentally ill to be a jerkwad. If anyone knows, *I* know.

On the plus side, he does apparently have to use public transit.
So there's a beating right there...

In this god-forsaken city, I choose to leave the car parked and take the ttc 8 times out of 10. The risk of running into a leprechaun is overshadowed by the horror of Toronto traffic, cabbies, and drivers.
