See, I don't get this political correctness argument at all. The mods asked for opinions and discussion from all sides, they did a poll, and then made a decision amongst themselves about what they thought was the morally right decision. That's not bending to political correctness, it's asking for as much input as possible and then using your own judgement. I don't really understand what a preferable decision-making process would be.
Granted, only the mods know the exact nature of the discussion they had behind the scenes, but why assume that that their decision was about satisfying a vocal minority? Why is it so implausible that they weighed the arguments from all sides and made their decision only after factoring in all perspectives. Is your issue that they put more weight into the arguments in the thread than into the poll? Or that they had opinions of their own?
What exactly would those who are accusing the mods of bending to political correctness liked to have seen in the decision-making process (other than an opposite result)?

I'm not sure I understand this criticism about the "vocal minority always getting its own way". Firstly, just communities, no matter how small or large (and CP is a community), need some mechanism that protects the interests of various minorities (whether that is the judiciary, the moderation team, etc.) Would you agree with that fairly straightforward proposition? Or are you advocating a tyranny of the majority here and elsewhere?
Secondly, I'm not sure how you propose that "minority groups" try to make their voices heard amidst the din of the majority's voices except to be "vocal".
Lastly, if you believe that "minority groups" always "get their way" here or elsewhere, you have drifted into the deep seas of paranoid delusion.

Female engineers at levels A-, A and B generally make more money than their male counterparts, but that trend appears to reverse once you get to levels C and up.

Why? I've been a part of this forum for 7 years, this is the first time I've experienced a massive shift in official policy.
Makes sense to me.
I dont think I can ever recall them having to rewrite the rules. Its kind of a big deal. Besides, the attention is important.

Fair enough, I haven't been around long relatively speaking. I'm just surprised people care so much. Clearly it's because I don't.

I never even knew what that other thread was about, it just clicked what YLYL means... lol.
I thought it was just a branch off of the thread about the guy not letting the girl into his barber shop.
After mulling this over it is hard to get upset, not to kiss ass here but the work this mod team does with this board has made it what it is. It is pretty easy for me to sit back and arm chair moderate, but at the end of the day its their volunteer hours that give me a place to post. I stop by a few times a day and offer up my unwanted opinion and then mosey on.
In short: if they feel that this is the best move for the board and community as a whole, then I support it. All we need are those upcoming rule changes and we can move forward.

Take a look at page 136 of the document. In this past survey there does not appear to be a statically significant difference between male and female compensation or a trend at which levels each gender makes more.
Although one factor that may not be apparent is that a greater % of women work at the producers rather than epc or fab. Since producers pay more generally in terms of total compensation there may be a hidden under payment of female engineers though I unsure if the survey data would have a large enough sample size.

While I would not consider myself one of those people (I think that when we censor women's bodies, it is detrimental to the well-being of women and society), I also maintain that there is nothing wrong with "just liking looking at the pictures".

Fair enough, you're free to do that on many other sites on the internet, we just don't want those threads here anymore.

This is exactly what bothers me these days. It's the sense of entitlement that comes from our consumerist culture. (Not speaking specifically about SebC)
"I visit your site and I am entitled to do as I please!"
No you're not. The owners can make whatever rule they like, so long as it doesn't discriminate. There plenty of other places to see those pictures, and not seeing them here is reasonable. This whole "you can't do this, it isn't right" thing is annoying and misplaced. You can do this and it's as right as the owner chooses

Holy De-railment batman!
I had intentions to make this thread a positive, argument free and full of appreciation from the fans of the YLYL thread. So far pretty much EVERYONE, including most of the mods, have ignored the OP. Not only that but i've been called sad, creepy and pretty much had snarky comments right from the beginning
if you guys want to keep arguing about this, keep the crap in the "YLYL thread and other things..." thread
Mods, please lock this thread up

So the thread would of been a bunch of guys reminiscing about the time they looked at pictures of girls on the internet?
Bill - "Hey Joe, remember on July 15th, 2014 when you posted pictures of that good looking girl"
Joe - "Yea, I do Bill, good times"

It was ridiculous idea to start a thread like this and the resulting comments proved that.
Your beloved thread is dead and you need to move on!

To me it's "you can do this but it isn't right". What I view as the morally correct choice is not determined by ownership.

What's not right about the owner of the site choosing what content is allowed to be discussed?
