And it's not like he's even admitting to going into camp out of shape, just that he hasn't been on the ice. Having a mental break from hockey could do him just as much good as spending everyday during the summer on the ice. It's not like he spent the summer drinking Caesars and golfing everyday (Well he probably did do the latter), just cause he's not on the ice doesn't mean he's not working out. Some players need to just completely step away from hockey to allow themselves to recharge for next year.

How much better could he be if he dedicated himself to be the best payer...kind of like what they are paying him for.

Croatian born and trained prospect Borna Rendulic turning heads at Avs camps:

http://milehighsticking.com/2014/09/...-2nd-day-camp/

If he makes the NHL, he will be the first ever Croatian born and trained player to make it. Hockey has been increasing in popularity there over the past few years.

I remember a few years ago, it was big news in Croatia that he signed to play in Finland as at the time it was the highest achievement in hockey. I was not surprised to see Joe Sakic as the one to give him a shot.

I'm sure there's more than just Sakic, but I can't think of any other NHL players from Croat background, has there been any besides Sakic?

The Mahovlich's, Cory Sarich, John Kordic, Phill Oreskovich, Goran Bezina, Nick Drazenovic, Mark Katic, Willie Mitchell, Eduard Vlasic, Tony Hrkac, Bo Horvat, Luke Gazdic, Mark Fistric, Travis Hamonic.

I am sure there are more.

But out of all of those, only Bezina was born there, but he was raised and trained in Switzerland.

From what I heard, Joe Sakic is still close to his family there.

As a Flyer fan, who rags on Crosby and Malkin for being made of glass, I have to eat a little crow when it comes to Giroux too. Golf club injury last year, hope this wasn't a nite club injury.

I respect that guys sense of humor. Glad he is no longer in Vancouver.

He can afford to have a sense of humour now that the pressure from insane Canucks fans is off.

Honestly, as much as I admire his sense of humour, I remember Luongo the jerk from Vancouver.

If I was one of the two Panthers fans I'd be upset actually, its pretty clear that hes given up and is now just kicking back and collecting paycheques in the sunshine state.

What? He has only missed 5 games in the last 5 seasons - He is the opposite of made of glass.

I used to have massive amounts of hate for him, but how he's handled the debacle of the past couple years is quite admirable.

Did you just do a last name search, and list off those players whom last name ended with a C?

I know, I just wanted to throw it out before a Crosby fan called me out on my earlier comment.

I find Luongo's humour underwhelming.

It kind of became gimmicky with all the media fellating his twitter "awesomeness".

I don't know, maybe I just can't get past the Canuck stink?

I agree, and maybe it is 'Canuck stink' but I generally find that someone who used to be an absolute Delta Bravo every time he got a chance all of a sudden becomes everyone's favourite class clown.

It seems disingenuous.

I have to feel bad for him. Dealing with the MS has to be frustrating, and now he is going to lose 2 months salary in what may be his last professional contract.

I get where Minnesota is coming from, but have a heart. I suppose maybe if I knew the details of the altercation, I might feel different.

Rumour is (and rumour is probably all we will ever get) that he got in an "altercation" (read into that however you want) with a team mate and then kicked a wall in anger/frustration.

I think the Wild are unimpressed that their goalie has such poor anger management skills that he would kick a wall hard enough to break his foot and put himself in the press box for a couple months.
