Considering what Sean accomplished last season in contrast to what we humbly expected out of him, easy enough to do that without using him as a measuring stick for Bennett.

Cripes man. I only meant to say I like Sean Monahan. Never said a bad thing about Bennett. I like him too. I have no idea why you're hounding me about this.

I just wanted to mention that the 205+ lbs mark for Sean Monahan would be a jump of about 20 lbs from his listed weight last season.

Quit ripping Bennett.

Jerk.

Just kidding.

Ya, if I remember correctly his playing weight last year was 195-200 lbs. If he's added another 5-10 lbs plus increased his quickness and leg strength as reported, well I'm excited!

think he was drafted at 187, came to camp at 195 and played probably around 200, losing weight through the season.

so coming to camp at 207 is likely a +12 for sure.

His work ethic is the interesting element in projecting the guy. Advanced stats and shooting percentage suggest a step back, but its hard to imagine him letting that happen.

Thing is, he scored at an unreasonable clip over his first 10 games (6 goals I believe, not sure how many assists) and then seemed to take a step back, while slowly improving right into April where he seemed to be playing the best hockey all season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him improve, but put up similar numbers this year. A lot of it was luck and bounces, so that is going to go down, but an improvement in play could easily make up for that.

A 35-40 point season seems totally reasonable to me.

Perfect scenerio would be for baertschi and gaudreau to push each other in this preseason to bring out the best in both of them. Would love for them both to somehow earn a spot on the big club. I know it seems like there is barely room for one of them but it would be awesome to see both of the kids make the team and have great seasons.

Default Flames 2014 Training camp - rookies report Sept 11, main camp opens Sept 18

Sven was out of commission for 7 weeks. Spent that time in Switzerland with his family. Has been training in Calgary for the past month. Feels good now, fast and strong.

Has made a point of learning from the veteran players, how to deliver on a nightly basis, regardless of how you are feeling heading into it.

Feels stronger mentally than in the past and admitted the hype and expectations that were thrust upon him made things difficult to go through as a young player.

He's excited about how the team has drafted, thinks there's a lot of talent in the organization and thinks camp will be highly competitive.

awesome to read, will have to look for the clip when it's posted on their site.

I really hope he has a few quick goals early in camp, as i think that if he can get even just a little bit of confidence built up early, it could snowball and create the positive momentum he needs to breakdown the doors into being a fulltime nhl'er this year.

Where was that interview. Sven and I have been talking for a while and he did say that he was in Switzerland for 4 weeks. He's been practicing with the boys lately and he looks good so I wouldn't count him out.

Heard he also got his broken nose fixed. Minor fix but it'll help with his game because he can breath properly now.
