Shame about Healy.
I like the hiring of Leah Hextall. Following Gaudreau over the last couple of seasons, I've seen some of her stuff with NESN and she's pretty good. Now, she just needs to borrow one of her cousin's sticks to keep the panel in line.

Happy with the PBP team. Been a fan of Rick Ball since he did radio in Kelowna in the 90s.

I was happy with the Mark Lee rumors, but man is this ever great news! Rick Ball is one of the best in the business. So ecstatic that we have him calling our games.
Well done sportsnet, well done.

Rogers did right; that's a good team assembled. Pretty much everyone from CBC went over, which was a no brainier.
I don't understand what these executives see in Glenn Healy though. I don't know anyone that likes his persona.

I think they had to take Healy because they were surprised at the amount of TSN talent that they didn't land. Granted, it is Sportsnet, and aside from our regional PBP tandem luck here, they typically don't know how to put out a great product. So it's entirely possible that they genuinely think Healy is awesome.

“I’m very much looking forward to joining the Sportsnet broadcast team, and to working with Rick in the broadcast booth,” said Hrudey. “The opportunity to work with the Calgary Flames is near and dear to my heart, as is the opportunity to continue the important tradition of Hockey Night in Canada.”

Quote:
“I’m thrilled to be starting this new chapter in my life, joining Sportsnet and becoming an integral part of the Calgary community,” said Ball. “I've called many Calgary Flames games over the years, and they have some of the best fans in the league. They're a young, up-and-coming club with a strong work ethic. I look forward to calling the games alongside Kelly – it’s going to be a great season.”

I don't see anything wrong with Roger. He's much better than Principe and doesn't make a fool of himself.
Plus he actually interacts with fans.

Millions has to interview players ... it's not exactly the type of source material that breeds amazing segments.

From his local paper it mentions Wills' 1147 games under his belt for the Bulldogs.

I'm was a big fan of Hrudey on HNIC, so I'm very, very happy with this, a massive improvement over last year's commentary.
