Oh the joy. How long before half of CP turms on him as well? I'd say mid-season...

I imagine they'll be good enough that we won't hear about them much on here.

I actually gained a little bit of respect for Bieksa that night.
He's still a punk though.

We've got to have two of the best PBP guys in the biz now. I'm ecstatic about these hires. I'll be honest, I never thought Baller would leave his gig with the Canucks and Lions, but it shows he knows which team is trending upwards

I just listened to that clip with the two of them calling the Canucks and wings game, that is nice and easy to listen to. I'm excited about these two. Great hires by sportsnet!
I wasn't a fan of Rhudey on CBC when he was just an analyst but I think I like him better as a PBP guy. I didn't hate Kerr but Simmer is so boring and annoying, blah, so happy he is gone.

This is amazing news.
FYI, Ball and Hrudey also called the Flames 8-1 drubbing of the Oilers last season. What a terrific game that was!

Why? He stepped in to take the faceoff in order to "protect the rookie" against Westgarth, but then refused to fight, only to jump Smid while leaving the rookie to fight Westgarth anyways!
He accomplished absolutely nothing, and I still maintain it was due to a defenceman stepping in to take the faceoff that ultimately triggered the whole brawl. Had he not, I think it would have just been McGrattan / Sestitio going.

Hrudey has never done PBP. Only colour & being an analyst

Exactly, and to add to this - the Westgarth-Lain fight (if it would have even happened) would have probably been tabled as the first fight by the officials. Either way, Lain would not have received a game misconduct (either he is the first fight, or the brawl might not have even happened) on his first game in the NHL. Just a completely idiotic move by Bieksa.

So adequate that the broadcaster team who was there for the low points of both our most hated rivals, ends up being our guys. So poetic.

semantics aside, I like him better on the team announcing/colour/PBP any day of the week over Kerr and Simmer as a pair.

In all honesty, I didn't see the game live and based my comment just on the clip of him coming in to take the faceoff.
I stand corrected, he's still a punk for whom I have no respect for.

No complaints at all with a Ball/Hrudey tandem.

Just saw this, Ball is such an upgrade over Lee.......really solid duo for Flames fans.
The Oilers seriously have Quinn and Remenda? Ouch.

Funny how Kerr got all the negative attention when I think 60% of the problem was in fact Simmer and just how god awful his commenting was game in game out. He added nothing informative or interesting. Nothing.
