It is those efforts to improve the team that Bautista was dissapointed the Blue Jays did not do, and what he complained about leading to the shouts of "bad attitude". (Although the Mariners are still spending ~ $40 million less than the Jays, and that is on AA's inability to build a winning team with that salary).

The 22 players on the Mariners not named Hernandez or Cano make a total of 42 million dollars.

The Blue Jays have 99 problems but a Bautista ain't one.

If I had to list the problems in order:
1) Weak/inconsistent starting rotation
2) Injuries
3) Weakness at 2nd base
4) Lack of production from centre fielder
5) Too many players with an inability to hit left handed pitching

Because Cano is the spitting image of great attitude and all his teammates love him...

No doubt he is having a great year but when he was under the bright lights in NYC he was bashed for his attitude and lack of hustle.

Cano is being paid $24 million a year for 10 years and was never an option for the Blue Jays. Bautista is not Cano and nobody is arguing that he is. Bautista is no Ken Griffey Jr or Mike Trout either. However, he is a valuable part of our team. In fact he is the centrepiece of our team. You can argue that he may not be the best centrepiece...that's fair. To argue that he brings the team down is ridiculous.

Bautista is an uber competitive person. I have never seen him show up his teammates or do anything that shows that he is a me first person. He wants to win and isn't afraid to say that. I would prefer more guys who are desperate to win.

Do you know something that I don't know about Bautista?

I will readily admit I know less about hockey, the sport itself, than most of this forum.

There's no need to get defensive.
Feels like you are dismissing opinions that are different from your as being less informed. I think it is arrogant to say that the average Canadian baseball fan knows less than the average American baseball fan. Are we talking about hard core fans - because I would say in those cases they would have similar knowledge levels. Or are we talking about casual v. hard core fans?

And yes it is the same when Canadians look down on the opinions of American hockey fans. That's arrogant too.

We're on a hockey forum, but I have no problem saying my opinions on the sport of hockey, someone's specific abilities, styles of play etc. mean less than someone who knows more about the game.

I never played ice hockey, I'm just a huge fan. I know a lot about the sport, but I also realize there are many many people who know much more about the intricacies and subtleties of the game than I do.

Baseball is my main sport. I know it upside down and inside out. My knowledge of the game dwarfs my hockey knowledge (which I like to think is decent). Do I think I know more than the average hardcore fan about the game? Yes, I do. I don't mean to come off as inciting and arrogant, but I guess I have, so I apologize.

Believe it or not, I actually cheer for the Jays. That's the main reason I don't like Jose, because I think he's bad for the long-term success of the team.

Nevertheless, I'll lay off.

This screams "me-first" kind of attitude.

Bautista isn't even as much of a problem as the smug jackass in the first row by first base.

How many times do you have to inform us? We get it, you hate Bautista. While you continue to bring no valid reasoning why he is such a poor player other than your lame opinion.

He's lost all his confidence. He was great before he went on the DL. He used to have this look of pure determination on his face, and he operated so quickly. He's completely lost that now.

so sad.. Hutchinson is dealing but the Jays have no chance against a guy who has given up only 6 home runs all year.

Bautista thrown out for a few words. He barely said anything. I heard "what did I say?" "I was simply talking to you".

But I do got to say, Bautista seems to whine a lot about strike calls.

It was a strike according to the strike ticker on SN.

He needs to shut his yap, he's got a reputation for whining about calls.

The ump told him to go back to the dugout and Jose didn't go. His own fault.
