There is just zero trust remaining between the citizens of Ferguson and the police force that is supposedly there to serve and protect them. There was a single peaceful night in the last week--not surprising that the only peaceful night was the night when police didn't show up in riot gear with tanks and looking like they were entering a warzone (and treating it as such, with the tear gas, which isn't even acceptable for use in actual warfare).

When police are threatening media, telling them to leave, arresting them without cause, tear-gassing them and then dismantling their equipment that was left behind--I have a hard time believing that they're all that trustworthy. If they had nothing to hide, they wouldn't care if someone was filming them.

I think myself and others critical of the police in this situation would be a lot less critical of them if they weren't acting as if they had something they were attempting to cover up.

NY Times saying brown shot 6 times, twice in head four in arm. All from the front. What's going on now is terrible I was really hoping everything would have calmed down by now.

Autopsy Shows Michael Brown Was Struck at Least 6 Times

Quote:
One of the bullets entered the top of Mr. Brown’s skull, suggesting his head was bent forward when it struck him and caused a fatal injury, according to Dr. Michael M. Baden, the former chief medical examiner for the City of New York, who flew to Missouri on Sunday at the family’s request to conduct the separate autopsy. It was likely the last of bullets to hit him, he said.

Mr. Brown, 18, was also shot four times in the right arm, he said, adding that all the bullets were fired into his front.

absolute total chaos. multiple tear gas kids everywhere cops told me they're gonna keep launching insane
Then those parents should not have children. What kind of a parent brings their children to a protest where violence is almost a certainty? Idiots!

Other information, like the distance between Michael Brown and the officer when the shots were made, will be very important.

But it's just disgusting what the media does for ratings and to sell newspapers. They've been perpetuating this story of a gentle giant shot in the back running from police based on absolutely no definitive facts. Now though that has been proven completely false. That's not to say that the officer was justified or wasn't trigger happy, but rather than wait for facts they make up their own narrative to paint the most controversial story for that little rating boost and of course a lot of people took it hook, line and sinker.

Now we'll have the goalposts moved, since he was no longer shot in the back (according to the first autopsy and contradictory to the eye-witness statements) they'll bring up how many times he was shot as though that's somehow the same. Now that it's proven he was a violent criminal we'll continue to hear how "so he stole some cigars and he deserves the death sentence?" while they avoid the fact that no, that's not what anyone is saying. Rather than wait for the rest of the actual facts.

The protests, riots and Ferguson police force's handling of the situation after the fact is another story altogether.

It amazed me watching the news the other day that they were showing a picture of him that looked like he was a sweet little 15 year old. And it didn't look at all like the very large man that was stealing and threatening the store owner. The media gets way more out of a story about a gentle unarmed kid being wrongly shot than it does about a thug attacking a cop.

The media gets better play, and inadvertently helps along some racial tensions and rioting as a side affect. It's almost the news creating the news.

This autopsy was conducted by the pathologist chosen by the family and is the second autopsy. The first one was conducted by the St. Louis County Police Department, while a third one will performed by the federal government. The pathologist also find gunpower residue on Brown's body(however the pathologist did not have access to Brown's clothes) which could discredit Officer Wilson's account that Brown had attempted to take his gun.

It was hours before scheduled curfew. They may have been under the false assumption that they'd be safe since the police spokesperson today was preaching sunshine and rainbows.

I certainly don't think you should be determining who is qualified to be a parent.

6 shots, all front entry.
1 shot to the top of the head = likely ducked down and charging.
Eyewitness saying he charged the cop before shots fired.
Cop with a spotless 6 year career.
6'4" 290 adult who had just committed a felony and had attacked the cop once already.

Somehow that equals a media firestorm about gunning down an innocent child and sparks riots/looting in an area with deep lying racial tensions that are worse than most of the deep south in the US. Just a despicable job of race baiting and reporting falsehoods by nearly every media outlet during this past week. No investigative journalism at all.

BTW, whomever decided to start firing tear gas tonight should be out of a job immediately. The situation is already a mess, they likely know the autopsy that contradicts the eyewitness accounts is about to be released, and the cops incite the situation further. Just a terrible lack of leadership for most of the police action after the initial incident.

Lady who who witnessed and filmed immediately after the incident just interviewed on CNN. She said cop tried to get victim into police car. He struggled and got away and tried to flee. The cop chased him and fired a few shots and looked like he grazed victim's arm. The victim turned around and got shot some more times.
