No worries, and I didn't mean to sound overly critical, was just my thoughts. This is definitely an improvement. Hope you can figure out an interesting colour combination that works. Better than the standalone puck, though.
Anyways, I've got another design that I really really like and want to put it out there, too bad I wasn't able to finish it in time. Looks like I'll have to post it on Friday when I get back from vacation My first was more or less a modernized version of what cp has used in the past. This one I've gone in my own direction with.
Stay tuned, folks.

I like a number of the other smaller logo submissions as well, but this is the best full-size design yet IMO.
I wonder if we could vote on a large logo and a small logo (or a primary and a secondary logo, or some such).

Can someone incorporate the flaming C at the start???

I like Fireitup's design, but would like to see it without the grid in the maple leaf.

Completely blown away by all the designs. Absolutely brilliant work across the board. It will be damned tough for Bingo to choose.

This is a good one too because it incorporates what Flameswin said, that this is more than a hockey talk forum, it's a community forum.

And I'd say focusing on the community aspect (i.e. the city of Calgary) takes away from the fact that the forum attracts posters from all over Canada, and indeed the world.
At the end of the day, what unites the members of the board isn't the city, but passion for the Flames (with a few exceptions for fans of other teams who came here to debate hockey), and I think the logo should reflect that. As well done as that logo is in general, until I read the fine print mentioning the Flames, it doesn't say to me that this is the place to come to discuss Flames hockey, and a logo should never rely on people reading the fine print to get its message across.

Nooooo haha. The first one is amazing. This is what happens with focus groups, everyone adds their little change and we get away from the original awesome design.

While the other one was nice, it didn't really lend itself to being a global message board, which this definitely is for Flames fans.
The logo you like screams "Calgary" and "Canada", but not "Calgary Flames fan community."
While you think of it as being more general, it's actually less inclusive. You might gain some Calgarians, but it certainly looks less appealing from an international perspective.

??? I just meant the design itself looked better before. Not sure how this is more inclusive globally, all he did was add a puck, and the website is already CalgaryPUCK. The word puck is even right under the picture of the puck lol.
The Canadian maple leaf is still there, the Calgary skyline is there, it just looks different now and the original looked way better, imo. That's all I was getting at.

The logo in general I mean I guess. I know you really like it, but you like it because it's less hockey and represents the off-topic side a little more while representing Calgary general better, and while that's ok, it should really be a little more Flames specific I think.

Oh okay, fair enough then, I see what you're saying. You just confused me as the post of mine you quoted was referring to the two versions of FireItUp's which were both practically the same lol.

Lol yeah sorry! I thought about it earlier and then quoted your most recent post. Totally my fault for the confusion.

Wouldn't mind seeing this with the CP lettering inside the puck.

...and it begins lol. This great logo is on a path for focus group oblivion.
While you're at it, could you add coloured silhouettes of every player that may play a game for the Flames next season?

Though your mind has been made up, clearly there are other options and opinions.
I also think the maple leaf is somewhat tacked on and it's got little relevance to the nature of the board. Some combination of the cityscape and the puck are good... and then some element of Flame (Calgary Tower? Wouldn't be recognizable on a small logo though) in the picture, since can't use Flaming C.
Or go with the logo that was on the original hats, which I still have in my basement somewhere, circa 2002.

Maybe it's just me, but the Calgary skyline silhouettes in any logo ideas are just too... cliche. Plus, we have members from outside of Calgary.... many of them. This is more than just a local board, so while still titled 'Calgarypuck', I think a logo should embody the spirit of the contributions of all members from all locations. That's one of the reasons why this board has become so popular and awesome.

Lets not get it twisted tho, this site started for one reason and thats the "Calgary Flames" and they are located in Calgary, Alberta Canada.
And on that note, one more edit to the design.
Here you go...
