My guess is, if the plane was shot down, some extremist Ukrainian or Russian seperatist/rebel/militia faction with state-provided missile hardware committed a rogue act by shooting down the airline, not following protocol for aircraft targeting, and acted independently from government influences to blame the other side and push the conflict to whole new heights.

If states were involved, this is going to get extremely ugly. Maybe not immediately with foreign powers, but the blame game will result in more violence in Eastern Ukraine.

If this is an accident, I doubt any apology is coming forward and each side will use it as a propaganda tool against the other.

They key part you as missing is this...Whatever needs to be done should be done after proper information is gathered. You sound like a loon because you want action taken when we don't have the answer to what happened yet.

NIK, I have given ideas of what should be done. You and I disagree on this but asking me for ideas over and over again is useless to the discussion. I am not saying that you take action immediately. Of course you take in the facts, try to gather evidence but a strong statement by Obama would be a good idea. He needed to say that if it is proven that the rebels shot this down and that the equipment was supplied by Russia that there will be severe consequences.

Captain, it would seem IF Russia was supplying the rebels with the BUK system that it would be Russians operating it, would you agree, seems like a system you don't just hand off without someone who knows what they are doing operating it.

Which leads me to ask, how likely is it a Russian trained guy mistakes an Airliner and shoots it down??

Tell me where I said immediate action, again, of course you take in the evidence, as they just stated on CNN the US has a lot of assets in the area watching this whole situation. The evidence will be streaming in, what I said is Obama needed to give a stronger statement. Of course when someone speaks out against Obama you are deemed a hater, or ignorant or racist.
