Earth 2150: The Moon Project.
Man I'd love to play this game again. Best RTS I've ever played.

Generally I find remakes to be disappointing and not living up to the originals. What I'd rather see is classic games with the graphics (and sound) updated to look better on modern displays.
I was hoping the Baldur's Gate enhanced editions would upgrade the graphics more than they did, but they're still very playable and I think a better approach than a remake.
I did enjoy the X-Com remake though, even if it doesn't quite hit the atmosphere of terror that the original did.

Ducktales did this. And it's awesome.

There's that FF geekiness again...

I remember seeing a side by side comparison of the opening video remade. The graphics very obviously updated.
In doing some research I see it hasn't been released yet and there's quite a bit of controversy about it? Some people saying Square is now 'openly trolling fans'. Maybe it was on deck for a while and it got cancelled?

I think they still hold up really well today, you can get them both on gog.com too.

If you download the OpenFS2 they've done a lot of work to update the graphics and textures. It looks pretty good on a modern computer. Mind you it's no StarCitizen but it beats the crap out of freelancer and some of the other wannabe games.

I one more turned so much time away with Master of Orion II! That new one they made was total garbage.

It was a technical demo to show what Square could do on the PS3. Choosing the FFVII intro is probably now considered a mistake on Square's part, as everyone just constantly asks for them to basically remake FFVII from scratch.

Just a PS3 tech demo from almost ten years ago -- all they ever did was the opening video.
There was lots of rumors Square was going to remake the whole game but it never happened and still is not in production.

There was this game on the C64 a few years back. You flew a helicopter and had to inflitrate enemy bases and use knockout gas and knockout grenades while you looked for documents in a bunch of buildings. You had to be completely stealthy and your character was described as an all around cool guy with a nifty haircut.
I'd like to see that game remade.

Home World: Cataclysm was another gooder. Space based RTS where you could move in any direction. Really well done.

I'm in the exact opposite camp. I'd love to see more rpgs in the style of 3/4 overhead views and sprite-styled graphics, and save the 3D for the cinematics.
They could come out with something in the vein of II/III (IV, VI, just for OutOfTheCube) annually and I'd buy every one.

i still dont understand why they dont want to remake ff7. you have to think that it would be a huge ps4 seller, and a massive cash cow. at least in my mind, maybe im full of crap.

Which is frustrating. I'm playing through FFXIII right now, and if FFVII had those kind of graphics? They'd sell a million copies on the first day of sales alone.

Jane's fleet Command was really awesome in its day. I don't think that there's much to upgrade except for the graphic engine, the enemy AI was really good and the game was a real challenge.
I remember one mission was to hunt a Russian SSN and sink it before it got a shot at your own SSBN. You had a fleet of 2 or 3 frigates and a couple of LA Class 688i's.
Everytime I played that scenario the Russian played it differently. One time he went quiet, and would do quick sprints then drifts so he would pop in and pop out of my sonar, I eventually got lucky and my helcopter got him with a lucky sonar buoy drop.
Then the next time he basically popped up and attacked one of my frigates with a bunch of cruise missiles then went active and found my missile sub and killed it.
Great game.
